As cameras, smart speakers, displays, sensors, and connected appliances spread through the home, cybersecurity is no longer only about protecting individual devices. The home itself is becoming a data environment: security footage, family photos, voice commands, device status, and everyday routines are increasingly captured, processed, and stored by connected systems. The more fragmented those systems become, the harder it is for users to understand where their data goes, how long it is retained, and which cloud services are required to make basic functions work.
At the UGREEN Smart Living Launch Event on Sept. 1 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, UGREEN introduced the HomeAgent Series around a different architectural idea: move more storage, computing, and device coordination back into the home. Rather than treating privacy as a setting layered onto separate cameras, storage products, and smart-home apps, HomeAgent is designed to use a locally managed hub as the common foundation for household data and automation.
A Local Operating-System Foundation for the Smart Home
At the software layer is the all-new UGOS Pro, UGREEN’s in-house operating system built on a Linux architecture. It provides professional storage management, robust data security, easy backup and sync, and extensive expandability. HomeAgent is powered by UGOS Pro, extending that NAS-grade storage and data-management foundation into home security, smart-home functions, and voice interaction. That common foundation is what ties together HomeAgent’s five core capabilities: users can interact with the home in natural language through Uliya, keep AI processing and storage local, use local intelligence for proactive home security, turn family footage and photo libraries into AI Highlights, and coordinate compatible devices through whole-home control. The significance is less that these functions exist individually than that they can operate against the same locally managed data layer instead of being split across separate apps, subscriptions, and cloud silos.
Through this local-first architecture, files, photos, surveillance footage, and device activity can be stored on HomeAgent and processed by local AI. Supported storage, security, file-management, and smart-home functions can continue to operate over the local network without continuous reliance on cloud services, while local storage carries no monthly storage fee. Internet connectivity can still be required for functions such as account authentication, remote access, mobile push notifications, software updates, and optional cloud-enabled services, but the architecture is designed to keep core household data and processing closer to the user.

The security implications become clearest when HomeAgent is paired with UGREEN’s SynCare cameras. In a conventional setup, a camera often functions as an isolated endpoint: it captures footage, uploads or stores recordings, and sends alerts through its own service. UGREEN’s approach is to make the cameras part of a wider local data loop. SynCare devices capture activity across the home, while HomeAgent provides local storage, AI processing, event understanding, search, and retrieval.
The UGREEN SynCare Indoor Cam ID500 Pro is designed for indoor monitoring with 8MP 4K Ultra HD video and Starlight Night Vision. It can recognize people and pets and supports baby-crying detection and alerts. For outdoor environments, the UGREEN SynCare PoE Cam OD600 Pro can recognize people, vehicles, pets, and packages, with unusual-activity alerts and tiered notifications, while its 8MP + dual 5MP triple-camera system expands coverage. The UGREEN SynCare Battery Cam OD800 Pro adds flexible solar-powered deployment through a 6W solar panel, 10,000mAh battery, PIR and radar detection, Spotlight, and Infrared Night Vision.
What changes when those cameras feed into HomeAgent is how the resulting data can be used. Local AI can generate event summaries and index footage for keyword search, helping users locate a relevant clip without manually scanning a long timeline. The same local vision and storage foundation can also serve a less obvious use case: family memories. HomeAgent and SynCare can identify meaningful moments from long-term family footage, while HomeAgent can also surface highlights from a user’s photo library, create AI Highlight videos, and display them on UGREEN Gallery smart frames. In this model, the camera is not only a security sensor; it becomes one source in a locally managed household data system that can support both protection and preservation.
Natural Language Becomes the Interface to the Same Local System
HomeAgent then connects that local data layer to Uliya, UGREEN’s voice interaction system. Instead of opening one application to check a camera and another to control a light, users can ask for live status or event history and issue direct commands to compatible smart-home devices in natural language. A user can, for example, ask where a pet is, check whether a package arrived, or tell Uliya to turn on the living-room lights.
Matter support extends that control beyond UGREEN’s own devices by bringing compatible third-party smart-home products into the same local ecosystem. Users can also create or activate home modes that coordinate multiple supported devices with one request. The UGREEN Smart Speaker for Uliya extends voice interaction into additional rooms, giving the system a distributed interface while HomeAgent remains the local hub coordinating storage, intelligence, security information, and device control.
Scaling Local Intelligence with MasterAgent
