Fujifilm Launches 4K Broadcast Zoom Lens “FUJINON UA94x8.7BESM”

Highly versatile focal range, from wide venue shots to dynamic athlete and performer action

Ideal for sports broadcasting, large-scale events, concerts, and other diverse production environments

— FUJIFILM Corporation announces the launch of the 4K broadcast zoom lens “FUJINON UA94x8.7BESM” (hereafter “UA94x8.7”), starting in mid-October.

“UA94x8.7” is a broadcast zoom lens compatible with broadcast cameras equipped with a 2/3-inch sensor, offering a 94x high-magnification zoom that covers focal lengths ranging from 8.7mm wide-angle to 818mm super-telephoto. Because it covers a wide range of shooting scenarios—from wide-angle to super-telephoto—it excels in diverse situations requiring mobility, such as sports broadcasts, large-scale events, and concerts. It enables a wide range of visual expressions, from immersive wide-angle shots to close-ups of athletes and performers.

In recent years, the broadcast industry has seen increasing demand for efficient production of high-quality content, particularly for sports broadcasting, large-scale events, and live streaming. As a result, there is growing need for portable box-type lenses that offer an optimal balance of performance and cost while providing versatility across a wide range of shooting situations.

“UA94x8.7” fills the gap between “FUJINON UA70x8.7BESM” (hereafter “UA70x8.7”), designed for relatively compact venues, and “FUJINON UA107x8.4BESM” (hereafter “UA107x8.4”), which covers longer focal lengths. By combining broad focal-length coverage from wide-angle to super-telephoto with excellent mobility and operability, “UA94x8.7” supports comfortable production workflows while helping users optimize equipment investment.

Compared with HD lenses covering a similar focal range, “UA94x8.7” delivers high resolution, high contrast, and high dynamic range (HDR) performance. Equipped with the latest image stabilization system and offering excellent operability during zooming and focusing, “UA94x8.7” is well-suited for the transition to 4K video production.

Fujifilm will showcase “UA94x8.7” at IBC 2026, the international broadcast equipment exhibition to be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from September 11 to 14, 2026.

Since releasing the world’s first 4K-compatible broadcast lens in 2015*1, Fujifilm has expanded its lineup to include 8K-compatible broadcast lenses, leading the enhancement of image quality in video production. Together with “FUJINON UA22x4.8BERD”, launched this spring, and “FUJINON UA30x7.3BERD” and “FUJINON UA16x4BERD”, scheduled for release in spring 2027, Fujifilm will continue to develop and provide high-performance lenses and accessories that support comfortable shooting and meet the diverse needs of modern production environments.

Main features of “FUJINON UA94x8.7BESM” (1) 94x Zoom Covering Wide-Angle to Super-Telephoto Focal Lengths

“UA94x8.7” features a 94x zoom that covers a wide range of focal lengths, from 8.7mm wide-angle to 818mm super-telephoto. Positioned between our broadcast box-type zoom lenses, “UA70x8.7” and “UA107x8.4,” this model offers high versatility by covering a broad focal length range with a single lens, providing an excellent balance of performance and cost. It is ideal for use at sports broadcasts, large-scale events, concerts, and other on-site locations, handling a wide range of shooting scenarios—from immersive wide-angle shots to close-ups of subjects.

(2) 4K Optical Performance Across the Entire Zoom Range

By utilizing Fujifilm’s proprietary optical simulation technology and minimizing various types of aberrations, including resolution degradation and color fringing at the edges of the frame, “UA94x8.7” delivers outstanding image quality throughout the entire zoom range. In addition, Fujifilm’s unique multi-layer coating technology, “HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating),” achieves high light transmittance of 99.8% and low reflectance of 0.2% across a wide wavelength range, enhancing color reproduction while suppressing flare and ghosting. These technologies enable the high resolution, high contrast, and high dynamic range (HDR) performance expected of a 4K broadcast lens, allowing rich tonal expression and making “UA94x8.7” ideal for sports, concerts, and live event production.

(3) Advanced Features Supporting Comfortable Shooting

Equipped with an image stabilization system that utilizes our proprietary “Ceramic Ball Roller System”*2, “UA94x8.7” delivers stable video recording. From concerts with minimal movement to intense outdoor sports, users can select from eight levels of stabilization settings depending on the subject’s movement and the shooting environment.

When used in combination with the Zoom Demand “ERD-50A,” it enables selection from 200 different zoom curves and allows the image stabilization system to be turned on or off. Furthermore, when used with the Focus Demand “EPD-51A,” it enables precise focusing in hand, supporting a comfortable shooting experience.

  • *2 A system that uses finely machined ceramic balls to minimize frictional resistance to the absolute minimum, thereby achieving high responsiveness and excellent durability during stabilization operation.
