The world of technology moves fast and evolves constantly, so staying current requires more than just maintaining skills. It also requires continuous curiosity, something Dr. N N Jose, an expert in Systems Applications and Products (SAP) and artificial intelligence, understands and embraces. Over the last two decades, his career has shifted from a business background to a position as a global IT architect who has remained successful in an often crowded and demanding industry.
Committed to the Classroom
Dr. Jose is well known for his relentless pursuit of knowledge. He is the National Record holder in Computer Science in India for the maximum number of postgraduate degrees, and his extensive academic background includes eleven postgraduate degrees, two bachelor’s degrees, and a PhD in management. He also holds over fifty IT certificates. His notable achievements include securing Rank 3 in his Master’s in Criminology and earning his M.Tech from the Indian Institute of Information Technology. He is additionally certified in PMP, CPMAI for AI, TRUSTED AI Safety Expert, and SAP, further demonstrating the breadth of his expertise.
His academic contributions extend into research as well, having published papers in SCOPUS-indexed journals and IEEE conferences in the areas of AI for business applications and healthcare. He also serves as a peer reviewer for journals and articles, reflecting his active role in supporting global academic and professional communities.
His massive personal investment, 20 years of experience in SAP and AI, have built a solid, well-rounded foundation for his professional life.
But he didn’t start in IT. Instead, his origins were in management, having studied chemistry and earned a master’s degree in Business Administration. But when the explosion of the IT sector hit India in the early 2000s, he recognized a perfect opportunity, took a calculated risk, and moved into IT as a junior professional. He then worked his way up to a Subject Matter Expert and Solution Architect. His move from the world of business to technology, using his industry experience and degrees in multiple disciplines, was an important, career-defining moment for him.
Designing Global Solutions
Today, Dr. Jose works for a major international automotive manufacturer as a Subject Matter Expert in SAP and AI. He tackles the challenge of unifying complicated business systems, and his skills come from years of practical experience implementing SAP across a number of industries. His background includes playing a critical role in major business software implementations across the globe, where he has helped organizations streamline processes and improve operational efficiency.
Still, his main work consists of taking complicated business needs, translating them into an effective framework, and designing reliable solutions by using both new and existing software.
His work currently centers on building sophisticated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems that can consolidate different business functions while improving their efficiency and reducing their costs. But when such “off-the-shelf” solutions aren’t available or sufficient, he can develop custom programming additions, called “enhancements,” to meet those requirements. His practical, hands-on approach has made him a valuable figure in major digital transformation projects.
Navigating the Tides of Tech
Dr. Jose meets each new challenge in the constantly changing world of IT through a combination of his innovative work and ongoing education. He frequently has to master new technologies under tight deadlines or assess the often complicated cost-benefit ratios of large ERP designs, and he often does so by leaning into shared knowledge, strong networking, and maintaining an innovative and forward-thinking outlook.
Dr. Jose’s advice to others in IT is, “Continuous update of knowledge, willingness to learn from others, [and a] positive attitude when adversities come will help to overcome the ever-changing IT industry.” At the end of the day, he believes in consistently updating your skills through education and being open to learning something from everyone.
For the future, Dr. Jose plans to further specialize in SAP and AI while also continuing to contribute to the industry’s ongoing discourse by publishing research papers and attending conferences. His story is far from over. Instead, it is one of dedication to constant learning, growth, and, ultimately, success.
