Searchable launches Prompt Universe to end the guesswork in AI prompt tracking

New AEO tool unveils the tens of thousands of questions buyers can ask, and challenges an industry practice of scoring brands on prompt lists that barely cover a fraction of their market

LONDON, Sept. 30, 2026 – AI visibility platform Searchable has launched Prompt Universe, a feature that maps the hidden market of questions buyers could ask AI about a brand, its products, competitors, category and buying situations, before recommending the set worth tracking.

According to Searchable, answer engine optimization (AEO) has a “prompt problem”, whereby brands can report strong AI visibility scores while measuring against a narrow and highly synthetic selection of prompts. In its experience, businesses moving to them from other providers can track as little as 2 percent of their relevant prompt coverage, with many larger businesses tracking less than 0.3 percent.

“AEO has a prompt problem, which Searchable’s Prompt Universe is now solving,” said Chris Donnelly, CEO and co-founder of Searchable. “If you’re only seeing a small segment of what customers ask about your business’s key revenue drivers, how confident can you be in your AI visibility score, and in the optimization decisions you make from it?”

Donnelly continued: “Most brands track a few hundred prompts they guessed. Prompt Universe maps the questions buyers could ask AI about your business, often in the hundreds of thousands. Then we narrow that down to the set worth tracking.”

The feature covers every stage of the buying journey, from early research through to comparison and purchase. It builds questions from the brand’s own site, the language buyers use about its category, where those buyers search online, and the follow-up searches AI engines run when answering questions in that market. Each question is then tagged by product, audience, competitor, location and situation, so a brand can see what it is missing.

To illustrate how far a prompt universe can reach, Searchable ran the tool’s analysis independently for a selection of major brands, including Delta Air Lines.

The analysis mapped more than 115,000 possible prompt permutations for Delta, generated from 11 topics, 436 subtopics and variables such as buyer demographics, routes and fare types. Filtering those down to the questions a buyer would realistically ask about the airline revealed more than 33,000 prompts for consideration.

But Searchable’s argument is not that brands should track everything, or even far more than they do now. Prompt Universe was built to move brands from asking “what prompts should we track?” to seeing what their current prompt set misses, and choosing the one that is most representative and commercially relevant.

“Every prompt has to earn its place in AI visibility tracking,” said Ivan Slobodin, founding AEO product lead at Searchable. “The goal is to give brands a complete view of the opportunity first, then help them build a focused tracking plan around what matters most to the business.”

Prompt Universe is now being rolled out to existing Searchable customers. Companies not already working with Searchable can apply to view their version at: https://app.searchable.com/try#prompt-universe
