AvePoint launches Trust Platform as AI agent security concerns grow

AvePoint has launched its new Trust Platform to help organisations manage the security, governance and operational risks associated with the growing use of AI agents.

The launch comes as businesses increasingly move beyond experimenting with AI to deploying autonomous agents across everyday operations, raising questions about what these systems can access, what actions they can take and how organisations maintain control.

The AvePoint Trust Platform is designed to address these challenges by helping businesses prepare their data for AI, govern agents throughout their lifecycle and maintain security and resilience across multiple cloud and AI environments.

Unlike approaches tied to a particular cloud or AI provider, the platform is designed to work across different ecosystems, including Microsoft, Google and Salesforce.

The company says this will help organisations maintain consistent governance as they adopt AI tools and agents from multiple providers.

Confidence in AI security is outpacing control

The announcement follows findings from AvePoint’s 2026 State of AI research, which revealed that 88.4% of surveyed organisations had experienced at least one AI agent-related security incident in the previous 12 months.

Despite this, more than four in five respondents expressed confidence in their ability to prevent unauthorised AI access to data.

The findings highlight a growing challenge for businesses: while AI adoption is accelerating, the controls needed to manage autonomous systems are not always keeping pace.

As agents gain access to sensitive information and become capable of carrying out tasks independently, organisations need greater visibility into their activities, clearer access permissions and mechanisms to recover when something goes wrong.

AvePoint’s new platform aims to provide that oversight, with capabilities covering agent discovery, lifecycle governance, policy enforcement, data security and recovery.

A broader push into AI governance

The launch also marks a shift in AvePoint’s positioning, with the company adopting the description the AI Trust Company.

Its existing Confidence Platform will continue to focus on protecting and governing enterprise data and infrastructure, while the new Trust Platform extends those capabilities to AI agents, models and tools.

AvePoint is positioning the two platforms as complementary, with shared capabilities expected to develop over time.

The company argues that AI governance should extend beyond monitoring individual applications to ensuring that the data, systems and permissions supporting AI remain secure and accountable.

With organisations increasingly using AI across multiple cloud environments, the ability to demonstrate that agents are operating within approved policies is becoming an important part of enterprise risk management.

The launch reflects a wider shift in the AI market, where attention is moving from what autonomous systems can achieve to how businesses can demonstrate that those systems remain secure, governed and recoverable.

For organisations scaling their use of AI, the challenge is no longer simply deploying more agents. It is making sure they know exactly what those agents are doing.
