Every software company eventually wants to become a fintech company. For vertical SaaS platforms serving specific industries, from property management to construction, embedding financial products like business credit cards and digital wallets is a proven strategy to boost revenue, deepen user engagement, and reduce churn.
But behind the seamless user interfaces lies a treacherous operational reality. Building the necessary financial infrastructure requires assembling a labyrinth of banking partnerships, underwriting models, compliance frameworks, and capital management systems. For most software companies, what starts as a lucrative product expansion quickly devolves into an expensive, permanent distraction from their core business.
CapitalOS is aiming to eliminate that friction entirely. Today, the startup announced a $21.9 million Series A funding round to scale its “money orchestration layer,” a platform designed to let B2B software companies launch sophisticated spend management and bill-pay features in a matter of days, rather than months or years.
The Series A round was led by LGVP, with participation from WEX Venture Capital, Group11, Great North Ventures, Night Capital, and existing investors.
“Vertical SaaS and AI platforms are experts in their domains, not building payments infrastructure,” says Nir Dremer, Co-Founder and CEO of CapitalOS. “Our goal is to build the best financial infrastructure so any platform company can offer their end customers world-class financial products.”
Dremer is no stranger to the complexities of digital payments. Prior to co-founding CapitalOS with Matan Goldschmidt, whose previous startup was acquired by Lyft, Dremer served as a General Manager at Stripe and Tipalti. It was there he recognized a massive market inefficiency: software platforms possessed the captive audiences and operational data necessary to offer highly tailored financial products, but lacked the specialized plumbing to actually deliver them safely and profitably.
To bridge this gap, CapitalOS has engineered a system of specialized, automated “agents” that handle the heavy lifting of a financial back-office. When a B2B platform plugs into CapitalOS, they instantly inherit an Underwriting Agent that dynamically adjusts credit limits based on user activity, and a Capital Agent that directly funds transactions so the software company doesn’t have to raise or warehouse its own capital.
Crucially, the platform also deploys Compliance and Risk Agents to monitor transactions in real time, preventing fraud and ensuring regulatory adherence without requiring the software company to build an in-house risk department. CapitalOS even provides a Support Agent to handle user-facing payment inquiries via phone, text, and email.
This turnkey approach to embedded finance is already driving significant volume. While operating largely under the radar until now, CapitalOS has amassed over 25,000 cardholders across dozens of B2B platforms. The company reports it is currently orchestrating billions of dollars in transaction volume, representing a staggering 1,000% growth over the past 18 months.
For customers like Guesty, a prominent property management software platform, the ROI of outsourcing this infrastructure is clear. “CapitalOS gave us the robust, yet flexible infrastructure we needed to launch a card product that is 10x better than any traditional banking platform, embedding it directly into our users’ daily operations,” says Jonathan Ferber, Guesty’s Head of Business Programs Operations.
Investors are betting that as artificial intelligence continues to transform the B2B software landscape, the ability to seamlessly execute financial actions will become a baseline requirement for SaaS platforms.
“As AI enables B2B platforms to do more for their customers, it’s also creating opportunities to use operational data in more meaningful ways, including anticipating financial needs and improving how money moves through a business,” notes Jay Dearborn, Chief Strategy Officer at WEX. “What makes CapitalOS compelling is its approach to connecting that intelligence with the financial infrastructure businesses need, without requiring platforms to build and manage that complexity themselves.”
Itai Tsiddon, General Partner at LGVP, sees a clear trajectory for the startup as software and finance continue to converge. “The best B2B platforms act on their customers’ behalf, and few actions matter more than financial ones,” Tsiddon states. “CapitalOS lets them launch financial products in days, and with more than 10x growth as AI accelerates demand, we’re excited to lead this round.”
With fresh capital in hand, CapitalOS is positioned to scale its engineering capabilities and expand its suite of out-of-the-box financial products, ensuring that for the next generation of B2B platforms, launching a credit card is as simple as flipping a switch.
