Zephyr Project Welcomes Seven New Silver Members as Global Embedded Ecosystem Continues to Grow

The project celebrates its 10th anniversary with new member growth and the recipients of the first-ever Community Awards at Zephyr Developer Summit in Prague

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Zephyr® Project, an open source project at the Linux Foundation building a secure, connected and flexible real-time operating system (RTOS) for resource-constrained devices, today announced seven new Silver members: Canonical, Dojo Five, GigaDevice, Morse Micro, Northern.tech, Siemens and Space Cubics. This growth marks a decade of collaboration and commercial expansion across the embedded ecosystem.

The addition of these members reflects Zephyr’s growing role as a shared, vendor-neutral technology foundation. As more companies build connected, resource-constrained devices on Zephyr, the ecosystem is expanding to support the full product lifecycle, from firmware architecture, connectivity and security to testing, deployment, software updates and long-term maintenance. By bringing production experience and expertise across these areas, the new members are helping strengthen Zephyr as a reliable, portable platform that companies rely on.

To recognize the people who helped build that foundation, the project introduced the Zephyr Community Awards. The awards honor developers, maintainers and community members whose technical contributions, leadership, documentation and advocacy have shaped Zephyr over the past 10 years. Winners will be announced at the Zephyr Developer Summit, taking place alongside the Open Source Summit Europe, from October 7-9 in Prague. The Zephyr Maintainers Forum will provide an additional dedicated forum for maintainers to collaborate in person on the technical and community priorities shaping the project.
