Broadcast Transformation: Replacing Satellite and Legacy Cloud Distribution

During the recent World Cup, Eluvio powered a successful commercial pilot with a Tier 1 broadcaster to provide VIP access to live streams and zero-copy VoD rewatch of 105 World Cup matches, surpassing all latency benchmarks, and outperforming the best-case broadcast and streaming latency performance, 15-45+ seconds faster than the legacy streaming services tested worldwide.

At IBC, Eluvio will demonstrate the Global Broadcast Fabric’s live broadcast distribution architecture — a decentralized, zero-copy system that replaces satellite distribution, fiber point-to-point connections, and ground-to-cloud multi-point egress for live broadcast feed distribution, extended with new live-operations and monetization capabilities. One decentralized Content Fabric distribution simultaneously serves every downstream taker just-in-time — B2B broadcast affiliates and D2C consumer endpoints — from a single ingest workflow without duplication.

  • Global Broadcast Fabric with Zero-Copy & No Egress Fan-Out Charges: The decentralized any-to-any routing architecture replaces point-to-point links for no traffic duplication at scale. Cost does not increase with receiver count and performance does not degrade as receiver count grows. There are no internal Fabric transit charges and no fees for unused distribution time — delivering satellite-beating economics with over-the-top flexibility.
  • Broadcast Quality: Sub-500ms global latency with sub-millisecond jitter and SMPTE 2022-7 decentralized multipath phase-lock synchronization — broadcast-grade determinism delivered over-the-top, without centralized control or single points of failure.   • Live Operations/Fast Global Switching & Instant Replay: Via the new Live Stream Manager and APIs, operators can instantly remap broadcast outputs to ingest sources and recover from failures with fast global stream switching and failover.   • Personalized Virtual Signage in Live Sports at Scale: The fabric metadata carries AI inference applied on source feeds, and executes per-frame rendering engines to apply virtual signage overlays and smart transformations per frame, for just-in-time zero-copy output generation (broadcast TS or consumer streaming). The live feed distribution requirements are constant, independent of the number of variants produced, and all media parts are re-used, making personalized virtual signage possible at scale. 

At IBC, Eluvio and uniqFEED will preview an integrated virtual signage solution for live sports applying frame accurate virtual signage just-in-time per audience group. The original program feed is analyzed once by an AdAPT Analyzer and the extracted metadata is published into Eluvio’s Content Fabric as metadata on the Fabric’s live stream distribution. Upon a client streaming request, a Content Fabric node executes the AdAPT Renderer inline its just-in-time, frame-level A/V stack to produce a targeted program feed. The ad image is also available to the A/V stack as Content Fabric “parts”, as it is also hosted and distributed by the Fabric.  By combining metadata, program feed and received ads via Fabric JIT distribution, a dedicated feed can be created for any viewer at any time. The architecture allows for a high degree of non-intrusive targeting without modification of the player of the viewer and without duplicating the distribution.
