New LLM-agnostic capability connects Research Desk with AI tools including Claude and ChatGPT, giving researchers and developers new ways to work with the platform
NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Rep Data, the data quality leader for the market research industry, has launched its LLM-agnostic Research Desk MCP Server, enabling organizations to connect Research Desk with AI tools including Claude and ChatGPT without being tied to a single provider. Researchers can use supported AI tools to interact with Research Desk through natural language, while developers can connect Research Desk capabilities to custom applications, workflows and proof-of-concept environments.
The new capability is built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard that allows AI applications to connect with external systems and tools. Through the Research Desk MCP Server, researchers can use natural-language instructions to create and manage projects, configure project parameters and generate survey deployment URLs, with user confirmation required before those actions are executed.
“Our vision is to build an AI-native Research OS for the complete, end-to-end survey experience,” said Patrick Stokes, founder and CEO of Rep Data. “Giving researchers the ability to set up and launch fieldwork through natural language is an important step toward that future. With MCP, customers can bring Research Desk into the AI environments they already use, while developers can begin building new workflows around it. Ultimately, our mission is to end the friction between question and answer. “
The Research Desk MCP Server supports the fieldwork lifecycle from project setup and quota management through project closeout and cost tracking. During testing, Rep Data’s team used the MCP Server with AI assistants to run projects from setup through completion without working directly in the Research Desk platform. Projects created through the MCP Server also run through Research Desk’s built-in Research Defender fraud prevention and quality controls.
“The Research Desk MCP Server gives us a way to make Research Desk accessible across the broader AI ecosystem,” said Kyle Cousans, Product Director at Rep Data. “That opens up a much bigger opportunity for Research Desk to become part of the workflows and applications our customers are building and adopting. We’re giving them the freedom to work with the AI tools they choose and imagine entirely new ways to build research into what they do.”
Rep Data plans to expand the capabilities available through the MCP Server throughout 2026, including deeper integration across the Rep Data research platform.
