What’s most fascinating about generative AI often isn’t how we can prompt it—It’s how it can prompt us.
Can it prompt us to be kinder? To be more loving? To be more… human?
We stand at the edge of another great shift in consciousness. A tipping point. It only takes a small percentage of awakened minds to tilt the scales and change the course of humanity. The last large-scale shift we saw was the rise of postmodern consciousness in the ‘60s.
AI will likely be the catalyst to the next great shift.
So, what will you create with AI?
Right now, people are unhappier than ever. In the U.S., the percentage of adults who report having been diagnosed with depression at some point in their lifetime has recently reached 29 percent, according to Gallop. In 2015 that number was 19.6 percent. This is a massive increase. These alarming rates are certainly not unique to the U.S.
How much of this is tied to a lack of meaning?
We spend most of our waking hours at work, yet two-thirds of the population is disengaged. They are not just unproductive—they are unfulfilled. This is the true tragedy.
How Do We Change This?
After speaking with countless enlightened CEOs, authors, consultants, and scientists, one truth is clear: Purpose is the starting point.
The most consciously evolved businesses understand this. They know that purpose is the boss. Purpose is the North Star that guides every decision, every action, every message.
A higher calling can energize people, attract passionate employees, and inspire customers. It can build movements, not just markets. It can connect emotionally with audiences who are searching for meaning.
At our company, we live by an ethos we call B.L.I.S.S., which stands for Build Love Into Scalable Systems.
Why settle for random acts of kindness when you can create systems of kindness?
Why aim for short-term attention when you can build movements of meaning? This is what inspires people. This is not just a business strategy. This is a philosophy for life.
Instead, for too many people, their work experience feels like opening up a vein and letting the corporate machine suck the life from us. It’s not the dystopian future. It’s the dystopian present.
Will the AI products we build today make it worse or make it better?
A Choice for Humanity
Something like B.L.I.S.S. — a loving systems thinking approach — must be at the foundation of AI development and the businesses that use AI.
Because AI will optimize toward whatever goals you assign it—good or bad.
- It can fuel conscious capitalism or exploitative capitalism.
- It can amplify empathy or amplify division.
- It can be guided by love or driven by greed.
Do we want AI to speak to the better angels of our nature, or to become the demons on our shoulders whispering in our ears?
AI has the power to amplify at scale. The question is:
What do we want it to amplify?
This is the choice before us. This is the responsibility we carry. This is the future we are creating.
So what will ,happen?
Probably all of the above. And to the extreme.
But here’s the kicker. At some point, the old way will be the sole pursuit of profit.
Businesses will increasingly take on more perspective (because this is what consciousness does as it evolves). We see more and more businesses focusing on people, planet, purpose and profit.
Turns out operating with love, empathy and compassion actually has excellent ROI. It doesn’t need to be an either/or. Companies with empathetic cultures generate 1.5 times more earnings per share compared to less empathetic competitors, according to a Harvard Business Review study.
Many CEOs actually know that empathy pays off. But studies also show there is a gap between just how empathetic CEOs think their companies are and how empathetic the employees actually feel their companies are.
With so much of AI development focused on improving business, we need more AI focusing on the often forgotten human part of that equation.
Let’s start asking “why do we exist?” more in the business world. And let’s start telling more stories that answer that question by coming from a very real and authentic higher purpose.
Your employees will thank you for it.
Not only does employee turnover decrease with this approach, it helps people find meaning and fulfillment in their lives.
We go home and engage with our friends and family with more love and empathy. We move from a disconnected world to one where connection is felt with frequency.
We are in the beginning stages of mainstreaming AI into our lives. Into our veins. We need AI that connects us. AI that helps prompt ALL OF US to be better, more empathetic, more loving.
Businesses need to demand more of this from their AI tools and products.
The world is craving meaning, purpose and connection. Can we give it to them? Maybe the real question is:
Are we ready to lead with love and serve with purpose?
