Walgreens Virtual Healthcare Adds Weight Management Services to Support Patients on Their Weight Loss Journey

Patients can access weight management care for $49 per visit, no monthly subscription needed

DEERFIELD, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Walgreens announced today the launch of Walgreens Weight Management, a new digital healthcare offering designed to help eligible adults access personalized, clinician-guided support for weight loss. This expands Walgreensโ€™ Virtual Healthcare platform and provides patients with convenient access to licensed doctors and nurse practitioners, FDA-approved medication options and ongoing support from the comfort of their home. The program is intended for eligible overweight and obese adults ages 18-64 who plan to self-pay for their GLP-1 medication.

As part of the new program, eligible patients can complete an online video visit with a licensed doctor or nurse practitioner who evaluates their health history, weight related goals and medical needs. Providers may prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1s for weight loss for eligible overweight or obese patients that are starting or continuing their weight loss journey using a GLP-1. The program offers on-demand follow-up visits via chat or video for medication adjustments and side effect management between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. CT, 7 days a week.

Walgreens has also expanded its Rx Savings Finder tool, powered by RxSense, to include Novo Nordiskโ€™s reduced price starting at $149 per month for the recently launched Wegovy ยฎ (semaglutide) 1.5 mg or 4 mg tablet and $199 per month for the Wegovy ยฎ 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg injectable.1 Learn about the terms and conditions of this reduced price offer on the Walgreens Weight Management page here.

โ€œExpanding our virtual healthcare platform to include weight management is part of our ongoing commitment to listening to patients and the services they want from their local pharmacy,โ€ said Rick Gates, Chief Pharmacy Officer, Walgreens. โ€œBy combining trusted clinical expertise with the reach of our digital and pharmacy network, weโ€™re helping eligible patients take meaningful steps toward better health, on their own terms.โ€

Less than 1 in 4 employers surveyed by KFF in 2025 covered GLP-1s for weight loss when used primarily for weight management.2 Walgreens Weight Management is a more affordable option than other telehealth subscriptions for patients who do not have GLP-1 coverage via their employers.

The program is accessible in most states and is designed to integrate seamlessly with Walgreensโ€™ pharmacy services. Patients can send their prescription to the pharmacy of their choice. All visits are $49 with no monthly subscription needed.
