Veridas Safeguards Mobile Connectivity for Over 100 Million Mexicans Through Its Identity Platform Under New Regulation

  • Veridasโ€™ technology, a global leader in digital identity, ensures compliance with the countryโ€™s new identity verification regulation.
  • Veridasโ€™ platform has processed nearly 1 million validations, with peaks of over 500 transactions per minute, maintaining 100% availability.
  • Mexicoโ€™s leading mobile operators have trusted Veridas to successfully meet this regulatory milestone.
  • In a high-demand technical scenario where others failed, Veridasโ€™ technology maintained uninterrupted service.

MEXICO CITY–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The entry into force on January 9 of the new Guidelines for the Identification of Mobile Telephone Lines marked a major milestone for digital identity and the fight against fraud in Mexico. This regulation requires all operators to link each mobile phone line to a validated official identity.

In this context, Veridas, a global leader in identity and cybersecurity, has established itself as the strategic technology partner for the telecommunications industry by guaranteeing operational continuity and regulatory compliance in the country from day one.

Since the start of the implementation, Veridasโ€™ technology has handled the highest traffic peaks ever recorded, processing close to 1,000,000 identity verifications so far this year, with moments of intense demand reaching up to 500 validations per minute.

Regulatory compliance, technical resilience, and conversion ensured

The new guidelines require operators to validate user identity for every activation, cancellation, or change of ownership, using reliable sources and proof-of-life mechanisms in all remote processes. In this context, Veridasโ€™ solution has enabled the countryโ€™s leading operator, as well as the platform supporting a large share of Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs), among other players, to meet these requirements in an agile, secure, and transparent manner for end users.

While other sector infrastructures experienced outages and technical difficulties due to the volume of registrations, Veridasโ€™ platform maintained 100% availability. Thanks to the stability of Veridasโ€™ platform, more than 75% of Mexican mobile lines have had uninterrupted access to service since the regulation came into force. At the same time, this technology has made it possible to detect increasingly sophisticated identity fraud attempts, such as AI-generated deepfakes, which already account for nearly 41% of detected cases in remote verification processes, according to Veridasโ€™ latest 2025 Identity Fraud Report.

To comply with the Guidelines for the Identification of Mobile Telephone Lines regarding the non-storage of personal data, Veridasโ€™ system operates under the principles of lawfulness, proportionality, and purpose limitation required by the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP). The company guarantees this strict compliance through the use of Renewable Biometric References (RBRs), a cutting-edge technology that generates unique, irreversible, and non-interoperable codes. This approach enables highly accurate identity verification without processing or storing images or sensitive data, eliminating any risk of exposure and ensuring absolute privacy for users in Mexico.

โ€œOur mission is to make digital identity secure and simple for everyone,โ€ says Eduardo Azanza, CEO of Veridas. โ€œThe entry into force of this regulation in Mexico has been the ultimate stress test for the industry. Maintaining a stable and uninterrupted service while the national system faced critical challenges reinforces our position as leaders in identity and cybersecurity.โ€

Leadership in the face of industry challenges

The rollout of this regulation has represented one of the most significant recent technical challenges for Mexicoโ€™s telecommunications sector. Close coordination between operators and Veridas has been essential to managing the required verification volumes while preserving service continuity and meeting the regulationโ€™s strict security standards.

โ€œThis deployment highlights the importance of working with technology partners capable of operating at a massive scale,โ€ added Jordi Torres, Veridasโ€™ Director for the Americas. โ€œVeridas has proven to be a strong and reliable ally for industries with demanding operational and regulatory requirements in Mexico and across Latin America.โ€
