Veeam today announced that Gil Vega has been appointed as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). Vega will help Veeam scale internal security and compliance processes while helping the company with innovating their cloud data management for the market.
The appointment comes just over a month from when Veeam was acquired by Insight Partners for $5bn, a sign that they’re on track to make some noticeable changes to the security of their business products.
Gil previously held cybersecurity leadership roles within the US Department of Defence, CME Group, and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and is armed with knowledge on internal data security, governance, and compliance strategy and processes.
Reporting to Bill Largent, CEO, Veeam, Vega will be responsible for establishing and maintaining Veeam’s vision by ensuring its information assets and solutions remain protected against any threats where their highly sensitive data could go out to the public. Vega will also be a part of the company’s executive management team.
