NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P), a Moroccan university dedicated to addressing African and global challenges, has announced the establishment of its American presence, UM6P Global Hubs United States.
The launch event, held in New York, was marked by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Youssef Amrani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United States, and His Excellency Mr. Omar Hilale, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations in New York.
The new U.S. Global Hub, with offices in New York and Boston, will serve as a collaboration hub, promoting partnerships in research and development, entrepreneurship and innovation, and executive education. This expansion marks an inflection point, creating a bridge that links African talent, research, and entrepreneurship with U.S. innovation, investment, and academic ecosystems.
“UM6P was founded on the idea that Africa’s future will be shaped by talent, science, and innovation rooted in local realities but connected globally,” said Mr. Mehdi El Khatib, Managing Director of UM6P Global Hubs U.S. “Our collaborations with American universities, research institutions, and corporate partners are about co-creating solutions. Together, we’re building joint research, academic exchange, and startup incubation opportunities where African and U.S. insights and expertise meet, driving innovation that is both locally grounded and globally relevant.”
The U.S. hub focuses on key areas of global importance, including sustainable agriculture, water resilience, artificial intelligence, energy transition, healthcare, and mining. These fields address both Africa’s immediate development needs and broader global issues. Through research and development, entrepreneurship and innovation, and executive education, UM6P Global Hubs United States will expand and strengthen collaborations, deepen research connections, and speed up solutions that matter.
UM6P in the U.S. addresses three structural gaps in Africa’s innovation landscape:
- Global integration: positioning African research and entrepreneurship in direct dialogue with international knowledge networks.
- Applied Impact: adapting global technological advances into context-specific solutions for African development.
- Diaspora engagement: leveraging the intellectual and entrepreneurial capital of the African diaspora across North America.
The launch in the U.S. further expands UM6P’s global presence, complementing existing offices in France and Canada. These international locations position the university as a preferred partner for research and innovation and highlight Morocco’s role as a gateway to Africa.
University Mohammed VI Polytechnic is a Moroccan university focused on solving African and global challenges through education, research, and innovation. Committed to nurturing future African leaders, UM6P advances in fields such as AI, health, green energy, and sustainable agriculture while positioning the humanities and social sciences as essential catalysts for inclusive, human-centered development.
