The Boston Globe Hosts Inaugural Working Mothers Summit to Support and Empower Women and Caregivers in the Workforce

Join Globe journalists, regional leaders, and advocates for an afternoon of insightful discussions and community building

BOSTON, March 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Boston Globe is proud to announce its inaugural Working Mothers Summit, an event dedicated to supporting and empowering working mothers and caregivers. The Summit will take place on Wednesday, March 26 at The Newbury Boston from 1 to 5 p.m. ET and will feature expert advice on parenting, wellness, and work-life balance.

New England and Massachusetts are often recognized as favorable environments for working mothers, due to childcare options, career opportunities, and flexible workplaces. The Globe is pleased to highlight effective strategies that promote both the well-being and success of working mothers through a series of sessions at the Summit, including:

  • Insightful discussions and inspiring stories from a dynamic group of thought leaders in conversation with Globe journalists and partners.
  • An opportunity to connect with women leaders, authors, and advocates focused on issues facing working mothers.
  • A supportive community for mothers and caregivers in the workforce.

“The Boston Globe has women in leadership throughout the organization, so we are proud to be able to authentically empower and uplift working mothers in Massachusetts through award-winning content, coverage, and programming,” said Linda Henry, CEO of Boston Globe Media who is providing opening remarks at the event. “This Summit is a part of that work, creating a community where mothers can connect, share their experiences, and learn from each other about the challenges and triumphs of raising families while pursuing their careers.”

“As a journalist covering parenting and working moms—and as one myself—I see incredible candor and resilience from these women every day,” said Kara Baskin, Globe correspondent and writer of the award-winning Parenting Unfiltered newsletter and column.”This Summit is a chance to celebrate their contributions and offer accessible, relatable support as they navigate the complexities of work and family life.”

As highlighted in a 2024 warning from the former U.S. Surgeon General, parents in the United States face a profound crisis that threatens their mental health and overall well-being. The warning references an alarming rise in anxiety, depression, and burnout, particularly among mothers, who historically bear the burden of domestic responsibilities while also balancing professional and parenting duties.

The Globe recognizes the challenges faced by working mothers and the importance of convening audiences to learn and discover ways to help them thrive in their careers. By supporting working mothers, the Globe aims to contribute to women’s health and well-being while also creating a positive impact on the workforce, and the success of children.

The event is available both in person and virtually and is presented by PNC Bank with support from Cross Insurance and Little Sprouts.
