Veteran L&E attorneys Marc Katz and Todd Mobley join to form Vartabedian Katz Hester & Haynes
DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Signaling another milestone in its dramatic growth in experience and expertise since forming just two years ago, the law firm of Vartabedian Hester & Haynes has announced that one of the nation’s top labor and employment practice groups is joining the firm.
Leading a group of at least six attorneys initially is Marc D. Katz, former chair of the national employment practice and managing partner in the Dallas office of DLA Piper, joined by former DLA employment partner Todd Mobley. With the group’s arrival, the firm will now be known as Vartabedian Katz Hester & Haynes.

Katz and Mobley are recognized as leading experts on national employment practices and trends and have been honored by legal publications such as Chambers USA, Legal 500, and others as top practitioners in their field. They offer significant trial and transactional experience, covering everything from complex workplace disputes, high-stakes investigations, and sensitive employment matters.
“We’re excited to make this move to such a dynamic firm with a roster of some of the finest and most respected attorneys anywhere,” said Katz. “I’m confident we can enhance the personal service and sophisticated counsel we’ve historically offered in employment matters and attract clients seeking an alternative to the structure and practices of the larger firms. I suspect other attorneys with this background will be attracted to the firm as well.”
Katz has significant experience representing corporate clients in high-stakes trade secret, employee mobility, restrictive covenant and unfair competition litigation, as well as fiduciary duty and partnership disputes and collective and class action litigation cases throughout the country. Throughout his over 30-year career, Katz has served as the lead trial lawyer in some of the most complex and high-dollar employment cases in a wide variety of jurisdictions and venues. His deep expertise in employment laws, practices and trends, coupled with his trial skills and experience, make him an unparalleled resource for corporate clients.
“We’ll be bringing over a significant amount of work from our existing clients, covering the spectrum on management-side labor and employment work,” said Katz. “We’ll be heavily focused on trial work and litigation and advising clients on how to avoid litigation or handle litigation when it arises. But we also offer counseling on various employment services, anything from day-to-day employment decisions, growth plans for clients on the personnel front and regulatory investigation work.”
During the past year, the firm has attracted more than 22 attorneys and significantly expanded its capabilities in bankruptcy law and corporate restructuring, white-collar litigation and investigations. According to firm co-founder Rob Vartabedian, the addition of experienced attorneys with a focus on employment law complements the firm’s other practice areas and further distinguishes it as a destination for sophisticated clients and other Big Law attorneys.
“Marc and Todd’s arrival is the latest example of fulfilling the goals we established when starting the firm,” said Vartabedian. “We’re bringing together the skills and experience of veteran lawyers and outstanding young talent, the resources of much larger firms, a structure that limits conflicts, and the value and effectiveness that clients are demanding.”
