SAN DIEGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sweetwater Investment Management (“Sweetwater” or “Sweetwater Private Equity”), an investment firm specializing in private equity secondaries, today announced the appointment of Brent Alvord as Managing Director and Head of Research.
Mr. Alvord brings nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of finance, technology, and entrepreneurship. He previously held senior roles at JPMorgan and Wells Fargo Securities, advising some of the most sophisticated technology, media, and telecom leaders in the world, and he was founder and CEO of two venture-backed software companies focused on AI and enterprise productivity.
In his new role, Mr. Alvord will lead Sweetwater’s research and proprietary sourcing platform, with a focus on identifying differentiated opportunities in direct secondaries and structuring creative liquidity solutions for founders, employees, GPs, and LPs.
“We believe that there has never been a better time in history to invest in secondaries,” said Mr. Alvord. “Founders and investors are navigating a radically reshaped capital markets landscape. Sweetwater is positioned to provide thoughtful, founder-aligned liquidity solutions at a time when flexibility and creativity are at a premium.”
Mr. Alvord previously worked alongside Sweetwater founder James Gamett at Portfolio Advisors and has advised Sweetwater on strategy and technology initiatives in recent years. “Brent and I have known each other for over 20 years, and I’ve admired his ability to bridge finance and innovation with insight and energy,” said Mr. Gamett. “He’s been a valuable advisor to Sweetwater, and we’re thrilled to welcome him into a leadership role as we continue scaling and deepening our reach into the founder and GP ecosystem.”
The appointment comes as Sweetwater continues to deploy capital in buyer-led secondary transactions across venture, growth, and buyout markets.
