Software-led hardware provider, ICON.AI, announced in a press release that it has launched a voice-controlled smart mirror labeled ‘Zmirror’ in partnership with Harman Kardon, the audio arm of Samsung owned Harman International.
The freshly launched voice-controlled smart mirror allows users to play music and control their smart home devices with what the software-led hardware provider claims to be an incredibly rich, room-filling sound.
James Shin, CEO and Design Director at ICON.AI explained how the smart mirror will provide unique user experience by saying: “With Harman Kardon, we can further improve our revolutionary next-gen technology Smart Mirror, Zmirror’s epic sound quality, and thus our unique User Experience to a whole new level. With a long-term partnership with such an innovative and world-renowned company as Harman International, there are golden opportunities for us as a Tech start-up, so that we are going to conquer the market in 2021 with even more completely new products.”
Smart devices, which include smart speakers, are increasing in popularity with national surveys conducted by Voicebot.ai highlighting that smart display speakers are witnessing exponential growth in the market, especially in the US.
It’s expected that IoT and AI will be more relevant in a post-COVID-19 era with new smart devices coming out with the aim to improve people’s lives and save lives during the global pandemic with Orbita raising $9m for its healthcare conversational AI.
The South Korea-based software-led hardware provider is an Amazon-approved system integrator enabling it to create IoT devices that include the smart mirror with an accompanying fully integrated display speaker that has Amazon Alexa built-in.
Zmirror was first announced in January at CES, where the software-led hardware provider was named a CES 2020 Innovation Award Honoree and has since then claimed its Zmirror is positioned to disrupt the beauty industry.
Johnny Williams, VP & GM of Embedded Audio at Harman International commented on why Harman is excited to work with ICON.AI by saying: “We are very excited to work with the ICON.AI team on Zmirror. At Harman, we are committed to providing top quality listening experiences to consumers around the world, and think the innovative work being done at ICON.AI is a perfect fit for our technology.”
Guidehouse Insights suggested in its report that smart home data analytics revenue could witness a 17.8% CAGR from 2020-2029 with the Zmirror being an example of the type of products that would contribute to this estimation.
The software-led hardware provider explained that the Zmirror combines the power of fully integrated voice assistants with the basic needs for a mirror and display system to follow. Although first released in prototypes with primary quality speakers, ICON.AI commented on how it attempted to differentiate itself from the current market with its partnership with Harman International for the official launch.
Users of the Zmirror can expect to have an interactive 7″ HD Touchscreen LCD which will have features that include voice control powered by Alexa, light motion sensor, advanced skin analysis, multi-colour mood lamp, full privacy protection, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection.
The software-led hardware provider commented that Zmirror will be shipped by Q1 2021 and general retail availability is expected in the second quarter of next year.
