AKRON, Ohio, Sept. 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Smithers, a leading provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, announces that the Department of Defense (DoD) has finalized the CMMC DFARS rule. The rule was published in the Federal Register on September 10, 2025.
CMMC is the U.S. Department of Defense’s cybersecurity program for contractors who handle controlled unclassified information (CUI). The final rule confirms that companies across the Defense Industrial Base must now comply, beginning with self-assessments and building up to third-party certifications in later phases.
Smithers Quality Assessments Division is an authorized CMMC Third-Party Assessor Organization (C3PAO) ready to provide CMMC assessments to DoD contractors.
Smithers is authorized to conduct CMMC Level 2 assessments as outlined by the 32CFR. Smithers offers a CMMC Level 1 risk reduction assessment to support contractors’ self-assessments and self-affirmations for Federal Contract Information (FCI).
