SCORE to Merge and Unify for Stronger Mission Impact

WASHINGTON, Sept. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — SCORE is taking strategic steps to better serve America’s small businesses as it finalizes diligence and strategic plans to merge the SCORE Foundation into the SCORE Association. This action, when approved by both the SCORE Association and Foundation Boards of Directors, will create a single, unified organization to amplify our mission and streamline operations.

The merger is designed to enhance operational efficiencies, reduce costs and redundancies, and direct savings toward supporting entrepreneurs. The process is expected to be complete by December 31, 2025.

This organizational change is among a series of strategic changes designed to align board governance with the newly unified entity, creating greater transparency and accountability as SCORE moves into its next chapter of supporting America’s entrepreneurs and fledgling small businesses. SCORE remains committed to expanding mentorship programs, forging new partnerships, and investing in technology to better serve the evolving needs of entrepreneurs nationwide.

To accelerate this transformation and further strengthen strategic impact, innovation, and operational agility, the SCORE Association Board has appointed Julie Christiansen as interim Executive Director effective September 29, 2025 .  Julie is a former SCORE Association and Foundation Board member and a servant leader, with a proven track record leading successful organization transformations.

Association CEO Bridget Weston will transition to a special assignment focused on unified strategic partnership development reporting directly to the Association Board of Directors through mid-October 2025, at which time the CEO position will sunset. We want to recognize and thank Bridget Weston for her leadership and accomplishments.  Additional organizational changes designed to right-size, and align the SCORE leadership team with the strategic goals of the newly unified organization will be implemented through January 2026.

“By consolidating our resources and optimizing our organizational structure, we’re making every dollar and every hour of mentorship count even more for small businesses nationwide,” said Julie Poland, SCORE Association Board Chair.

Through these strategic initiatives and leadership changes, SCORE reaffirms its commitment to innovation, collaboration, and service. The organization invites all stakeholders—volunteers, partners, and small business owners—to participate in shaping its next chapter, ensuring that SCORE’s mission remains vital and responsive in an ever-changing landscape.
