Reprocessor Innovative Health Sponsors Hotline For Reporting Non-Compliance with Injunction Against Johnson & Johnson MedTech

The injunction against anti-reprocessing activities requires Johnson & Johnson MedTech to announce the hotline’s availability to customers and employees

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Innovative Health, Inc. today announced that the Association of Medical Device Reprocessors (AMDR) has established a hotline and a webpage for hospital staff to report activities that restrict the use of reprocessed single-use devices. The hotline and website are paid for by Innovative Health, which is a member of AMDR.

The hotline is a direct result of a permanent injunction against Johnson & Johnson Medtech’s anticompetitive conduct in the reprocessing space, following a jury verdict for Innovative Health that resulted in an award of $442 million in damages.

In 2019, Innovative Health filed a lawsuit to challenge tactics by Johnson & Johnson Medtech (formerly Biosense Webster) that undermine electrophysiology labs’ ability to incorporate reprocessed catheters into their clinical practice and realize the savings offered by reprocessing. In May 2025, a jury returned a unanimous verdict in Innovative Health’s favor on all counts presented at trial, finding that Biosense Webster violated federal and California antitrust laws.

On August 27, the judge issued a permanent injunction directing Johnson & Johnson MedTech to stop specific practices in the marketplace that have hindered hospitals from using reprocessed single-use medical devices – and kept them from realizing important savings and reducing environmental harm. The injunction also directed Johnson & Johnson MedTech to advise all customers and sales employees of its content, including the hotline and website to report non-compliance with the injunction.

To ensure the injunction is effective, Innovative Health asked AMDR to manage the hotline and website, which allows anyone to report potential violations of the court’s order or other activities that restrict the use of reprocessed single-use devices. The hotline and webpage are both industry-wide and vendor-neutral, accepting reports about any vendor engaged in anti-reprocessing activities.

“For the first time in our industry’s 20-year history, a federal court has stepped in and stopped some of the most harmful anti-reprocessing activities made possible by the monopolistic behaviors of medical technology manufacturers,” said Innovative Health CEO Rick Ferreira. “We filed this lawsuit on behalf of our customers – the hospitals – to ensure they can safely realize much needed savings. And we are proud to ensure that the impact of the court’s ruling goes beyond the electrophysiology lab and Johnson & Johnson.”

The hotline for reporting actual or potential noncompliance with the injunction can be accessed here:

The hotline allows anonymous reports and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the web form and toll-free telephone number.
