LUBBOCK, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Energy–In celebration of electricity choice coming to the Hub City, Reliant is offering Lubbock residents a chance to win a year of free electricity, up to $5,000, through the Lubbock Free Year of Electricity Sweepstakes. Four winners will be selected at random for the prizes.
The first of the four sweepstakes winners has been chosen for a year of free electricity from Reliant but interested Lubbockites still have a chance to win. Residents who sign up for a Reliant electricity plan by February 29 will automatically be entered into the sweepstakes for the remaining three prizes.
“To welcome consumer choice in Lubbock, Reliant is thrilled to surprise and delight four Lubbockites with a year of free electricity,” said Elizabeth Killinger, president of Reliant. “We’re excited to power the Lubbock community with electricity plans for every lifestyle and budget, backed by award-winning customer service and digital experience.”
Katie Bartee was selected as the winner of the first phase of the sweepstakes. Bartee was born and raised in Lubbock and is active in the community. She is a member of the Friendship Holy Baptist Church and enjoys spending time visiting homebound seniors.
“When I first received the call from Reliant to let me know I won, I wasn’t sure whether it was true,” Bartee said. “I’m so thankful for this blessing. To be automatically entered in the sweepstakes, Lubbock residents can sign up for a Reliant electricity plan from a variety of choices from secure fixed-rate to flexible month-to-month plans. Options include time-of-use plans, which allow customers to save based on the time of day electricity is used, such as free nights, free weekends or free highest-use days.

Sweepstakes winners must have a valid residential address in Lubbock that is served by ERCOT and within the Lubbock Power & Light service area.
