A major milestone for Outbound Hotels as the brand debuts its next outdoor-driven destination in Utah and deepens its relationship with Barings.
PARK CITY, Utah–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Outbound Hotels is proud to announce Outbound Park City, a forthcoming alpine retreat set to open in early 2027 following a comprehensive reimagination of the property. Outbound Park City marks the fourth collaboration between Outbound’s parent company, Waterton, and Barings, coinciding with an expanded investment partnership between the two firms that reinforces their shared commitment to experiential, design-forward hospitality rooted in nature and community.
โPark City gives us the opportunity to create an Outbound basecamp on 4.5 acres in one of the countryโs most iconic four-season mountain destinations,โ said Matthew Mering, EVP of Hospitality at Waterton and Co-Founder of Outbound Hotels. โThis property continues our commitment to delivering accessible, design-driven experiences that are rooted in the local landscape. With Baringsโ continued partnership, weโre able to thoughtfully grow the Outbound portfolio while staying true to what defines the brand: outdoor adventure at your doorstep, intentional design, a strong sense of place, and spaces that make it easy for people to connect.โ
Outbound Park City follows earlier investments between Barings and Waterton, including The Virginian Lodge in Jackson Hole, Outbound Stowe in Vermont, and the planned Outbound Sedona, set to open in Q2 2026.
โOutbound Park City promises to be a canโt-miss hospitality destination in one of the most beautiful places in America,โ said Stuart Turner, Managing Director, Hotel Group, U.S. Real Estate at Barings. โThe property exemplifies why we have partnered so successfully with Waterton and reflects our shared desire to build a thoughtfully curated portfolio of outdoor destination properties that are attractive to a variety of travelers. We look forward to working toward the opening of Outbound Park City in 2027 and continuing to grow our partnership in the future.โ
Outbound Park City: A Modern Basecamp for the Wasatch Mountains
Drawing inspiration from the Wasatch Mountains, the high-alpine range that shapes Park Cityโs landscape, seasons, and year-round adventure, the design will blend Nordic clarity, playful mountain culture, and Outboundโs warm, contemporary approach to materials and craft. Guided by The Gettys Group, the transformation will introduce natural textures, layered warmth, and intuitive circulation that strengthen the propertyโs connection to the outdoors.
The reimagined layout will center around two expansive courtyards: creating an interior retreat that includes a new pool and hot tub, cabanas, loungers, fire features, and soft landscaping, plus a social aprรจs courtyard with communal seating, fire pits, outdoor games, and space designed for live music, small events, and year-round gatherings. These outdoor areas will be anchored by 182 refreshed guestrooms, warm and welcoming public spaces, and over 11,000 square feet of meeting and prefunction areas positioned across the 4.5-acre site. Artwork and accessories will draw from the regionโs alpine heritage and contemporary outdoor culture, while guestrooms will incorporate adventure-forward details, including built-in storage and gear-ready layouts. The result will be a relaxed, intuitive basecamp that feels both rooted in the surrounding landscape and reflective of Park Cityโs year-round outdoor spirit.
As with existing Outbound properties, the Park City location will introduce a thoughtful mix of food and beverage, outdoor gathering spaces, and community-focused programming designed to connect guests with the destination and with one another. Plans include a signature, retro diner concept, a speakeasy-inspired bar, and flexible areas for aprรจs and warm-weather gathering with amenities that support the way todayโs travelers explore the outdoors. Additional details on culinary concepts, partnerships, and on-site experiences will be shared as the project progresses.
Whatโs Next
The opening of Outbound Park City will come as Outbound continues to expand its presence across major outdoor destinations in 2026, including Outbound Sedona and Outbound Yosemite. These openings are supported by Outboundโs exclusive operating partnership with CoralTree Hospitality, which provides the operational scale, systems, and regional sales infrastructure for thoughtful growth across the portfolio.
Outbound Sedona will welcome transient guests beginning May 1 and group guests beginning June 1, while Outbound Yosemite will open for transient stays beginning June 1 and group guests beginning July 1, with bookings now available for both.
With more openings and destination-driven concepts on the horizon, Outbound Hotels remains committed to delivering comfort without conformity, rethinking not just where travelers stay, but how they feel while theyโre there.
