Rear Admiral John Menoni assumes senior vice president role
VIENNA, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#BranchOperations—Navy Federal Credit Union today announced Rear Admiral John V. Menoni, USN (Ret.) has been named its next senior vice president of Branch Operations. He replaces Keith Hoskins, who was recently tapped to lead the credit union’s new Military Affairs and Strategic Partnership unit. Menoni will oversee the strategic direction of Navy Federal’s global network of more than 370 branches and its operation of the Department of Defense’s Overseas Military Banking Program.
“John brings a wealth of leadership experience and a deep understanding of the needs of our military community to this credit union,” said Kara Cardona, Navy Federal’s Chief Operating Officer. “His distinguished career in the Navy and his commitment to service make him an exceptional fit to lead our branch operations and support our mission of putting members first.”
Menoni retired from the U.S. Navy as a Rear Admiral after more than three decades of service. Most recently, he served as Director of the Programming Division (OPNAV N80) on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations, where he was responsible for shaping the Navy’s long-term investment strategy. His career includes extensive operational experience as a helicopter pilot, commanding officer of a helicopter squadron, an amphibious ship, multiple other sea and shore commands and leadership roles across the Indo-Pacific and Central Command regions.
While many financial institutions are scaling back their physical presence, Navy Federal continues to expand its branch network to meet the evolving needs of its members. The credit union operates 178 branches on or near military bases, ensuring accessibility and support for members wherever they serve.
Additionally, Navy Federal is under contract to operate the DoD’s OMBP, also known as Community Bank, which provides Active Duty military deployed overseas access to 60 branches across 11 countries. This continued growth reflects Navy Federal’s commitment to maintaining strong, local connections with the military community and delivering personalized service—both at home and abroad.
“I’m honored to join Navy Federal and continue serving those who serve our nation,” said Menoni. “This institution has a proud legacy of supporting military members, Veterans and their families, and I look forward to working with our talented branch teams to enhance member experiences and strengthen our community connections.”
Menoni holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Illinois and a Master of Business Administration. He is certified in Systems Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School and completed Joint Professional Military Education at the Naval War College and Joint Forces Staff College.
