Building systems that survive policy chaos
Srinubabu Kilaru has spent years in this space. As a Senior Data Lead and Business Analyst working on government health and human services projects, he’s dealt with the unglamorous problems that determine whether these systems actually work. He also added AI-driven anomaly detection straight into ETL workflows. Python automation flagged weird patterns in benefit applications and eligibility data before they hit reporting systems. That cut down on manual reviews for state teams already stretched thin. The approach used lightweight machine learning models that ran inside existing pipelines, no separate infrastructure, no specialised staff needed to babysit them.
Making governance work across sprawling projects
Pipeline work was just one piece. He also implemented the Unity Catalogue for data governance across multiple projects. The problem it solved: different teams building their own solutions with no common standards for metadata, access controls, or tracking where data came from. Centralized governance meant less duplicate work and easier audits without grinding operations to a halt.
He built CI/CD workflows to end-to-end automation that let data teams push changes faster without breaking federal security rules. This meant coordinating with DevOps people, security officers, and agency stakeholders to automate testing and deployment that used to take weeks of manual checks. Shorter release cycles. Then there’s the business intelligence side. He designed Power BI semantic models and templates for state agencies to report on program performance, caseloads, and compliance. Healthcare projects meant dealing with patient data flows under HIPAA rules, while keeping performance responsive no room for lag. Financial services meant building pipelines that reconcile transactions across multiple systems with zero tolerance for error.
