Today it was announced in a press release that Bengaluru-based IT firm Mindtree appoints Dayapatra Nevatia as the new COO.
Nevatia will be based in Bangalore, India, and will be taking charge of a new planned phase of growth for Mindtree, which comes after the outsourcing giant won a contract worth $200 million from Philips and has experienced a 16% surge for its stock.
Mindtree appoints Nevatia after the position of a COO was vacant for six months since co-founder Parthasarathy NS resigned in July 2019, a few days after Larsen and Toubro Group (L&T) acquired the company.
Mindtree co-founders Rostow Ravanan, Krishnakumar Natarajan, and NS Parthasarathy had resigned from their position on the board of directors and as employees of the IT services firm in July last year.
Nevatia brings with him a range of experience from previous senior roles held at businesses Accenture where he was managing director and Wipro in the role of vice-president.
While at Accenture, Nevatia led the delivery of the businesses entire digital portfolio ranging from system integration to application outsourcing and security services and directed delivery of communications, media and technology, delivery centres for technology in India, and advanced technology centres in India.
While at Wipro, Nevatia started off as a developer and rose through the ranks to vice-president and global head of delivery and operations for energy, natural resources, EPC, and utilities.
Debashis Chatterjee, CEO and Managing Director, Mindtree, said: “We are excited to welcome Dayapatra to the Mindtree family. His vast industry experience, along with proven track record, will be a definite asset to Mindtree as we continue to stride on the journey of customer-centric growth.
Chatterjee continued “This appointment is a testimony of the Company’s focus on its leadership expansion across the globe.”
In July 2019, L&T had acquired over 60 per cent shares in Mindtree and had been categorised as the promoter of the IT firm.
Following the acquisition by L&T, there have been three non-executives – S.N. Subrahmanyan, CEO and MD of L&T, Shankar Raman, CFO of L&T, and Jayant Patil, Senior VP, L&T’s defence business – and two additional independent directors – Prasanna Rangacharya Mysore and Deepa Wadhwa – that have been inducted onto the board of Mindtree.
