McAir Aviation and Altitude Pilot Pathway Featured in Rocky Mountain PBS’ “Work, Learn, Earn” Initiative Highlighting Aviation Career Training

DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#AllegiantAirMcAir Aviation, in collaboration with the Altitude Pilot Pathway, is proud to support the Rocky Mountain PBS (RMPBS) Work > Learn > Earn career-pathways initiative as the dedicated pilot training partner. As part of this community-driven resource hub, McAir, along with its affiliate school, Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology, represent the aviation industry by offering aviation training in Colorado. The aviation partners are joining together to represent the industry during an open-to-the-public Aviation Training Expo, hosted at Rocky Mountain PBS on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. The community event will connect high school students, career changers, and aviation enthusiasts with opportunities in the Denver area – to register to attend, visit www.RMPBS.org/events.

“It was a privilege to work with Rocky Mountain PBS to showcase what a day in the life of pilot training looks like, and to be able to highlight McAir’s partnership with Allegiant through the Altitude Pilot Pathway,” said Jenna Burgesser, who trained at McAir and is now a CFI at McAir Aviation.

Work, Learn, Earn is a resource hub provided by Rocky Mountain PBS Colorado that connects the Denver community to training pathways and resources for new careers in a variety of fields. The hub offers job training information, career development direction, and the educational or certification requirements necessary to train for a desired career. The platform highlights organizations and programs that prepare individuals for possible entry-level opportunities in sectors such as aviation, engineering, healthcare, trades, and IT. Additionally, the Work, Learn, Earn resource hub features RMPBS-produced curated content, showcasing what “A Day in the Life” looks like through a behind-the-scenes lens.

The Aviation Training Expo will feature additional participating partners:

  • Wings Over the Rockies – Colorado’s air and space museum inspiring exploration of flight through educational programs and exhibits.
  • MSU Denver’s Department of Aviation and Aerospace Science – Preparing students for careers in aviation and aerospace through hands-on training and academic excellence.
  • Challenge Air For Kids – Providing children with special needs the opportunity to experience flight and build confidence through aviation.

Through this partnership, McAir Aviation and the Altitude Pilot Pathway serve as the exclusive aviation pilot training partners featured in the hub. Their training emphasizes real-world skills, FAA-approved curriculum, and a community-oriented learning environment rooted in professionalism and safe operating practices.

In 2023, McAir Aviation, an FAA approved, unaccredited flight school, and Allegiant Air teamed up to launch the Altitude Pilot Pathway. This specially designed training path delivers FAA Part 141 ab initio pilot training with customized courses and experiences to enhance preparedness for possible pilot opportunities at Allegiant. Altitude Pilot Pathway cadets will meet senior Allegiant executives and get to know the airline, home bases, and culture, both in person and through an exclusive online community.

Participation is subject to FAA, school, and Allegiant requirements, and outcomes vary by individual. McAir Aviation does not guarantee employment or third-party certifications and additional training, flight hours, and certification are required for positions such as with the airlines. BLS projections do not guarantee local demand or individual employment outcomes. The Altitude Pilot Pathway is intended to provide Allegiant with a pipeline of prospective pilots. It is available to interested McAir students. Pathway terms and availability may be subject to change. McAir is not a party to any contract between Allegiant and the student. Pathway participants are not eligible to apply for employment as a pilot with Allegiant until meeting all requirements including earning FAA certificates and ratings and logging 1,500 flight hours.
