CHICAGO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–A federal court judge has denied bail for former Commonwealth Edison CEO Anne Pramaggiore, pending her appeal. Ms. Pramaggiore is the only female CEO in the company’s history and who turned around a failing electric utility and turned it into one of the country’s best while cutting rates four times and reducing outages to historic lows.
In response to the ruling, Ms. Pramaggiore released the following statement today through a spokesman, Mark Herr Communications:
Statement
Once again, justice in this case has been denied. Ms. Pramaggiore has met the test for granting bail: she has raised at least six substantial legal issues for her appeal, and she is neither a threat to the community nor a flight risk. It makes no sense to jail her for covering up a supposed crime that the Court has already ruled was no crime at all. We will be appealing the denial to the Seventh Circuit. We expect Ms. Pramaggiore will be vindicated on appeal and justice will eventually triumph.
