Lawsuit Filed by FeganScott Law Firm Alleges Dr. David Hanson and Hanson Family Chiropractic Secretly Recorded Adult and Minor Patients in Various States of Undress

KANE COUNTY, Ill.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today, a patient of Hanson Family Chiropractic in Batavia, Illinois filed a class action lawsuit against the chiropractic practice, as well as Dr. David Hanson and the building owner, following a report by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office that approximately 200 adult and minor patients were secretly recorded at the practice in various states of undress without their knowledge or consent.

The complaint includes allegations that David Hanson and Hanson Family Chiropractic placed hidden cameras at multiple locations in patient treatment rooms. These cameras recorded patients within the “red-light” room, used for red-light and near-infrared light therapy, where patients reasonably expected privacy and where undressing was common as part of treatment.

In addition to these abuses by Dr. Hanson and the chiropractic practice, the complaint also details how the building’s owner, PMI Ventures, knew or should have known of these secret recording devices through its exercise of control over building systems, including ventilation grilles, fan housings, ceiling plenums, electrical conduits, and related fixtures within tenant spaces and common areas.

“Patients of Hanson Family Chiropractic are absolutely horrified at Dr. Hanson’s betrayal of the trust they placed in him as a respected healthcare professional,” said Elizabeth Fegan, founding partner of FeganScott and one of the attorneys representing the patients. “Dr. Hanson’s use of secret recording devices to capture images of minors and adults in various states of undress is every patient’s nightmare.”
