INNOVATION COMPANY ARRIVED ONE INTEGRATES ADVANCED AI, HIGH-SPEED GPU, AND NEXT-GEN INTELLIGENT METER

World’s-First Open Platform Using Internet Connectivity is Set to Revolutionize
Complete Ecosystem of Energy Management

Authors: Trevor Gormley, Mark Viken, Dr. David Brock, Scott Tomlinson

Through the formation of Anuranet and its BullFrog Intelligent Infrastructure Energy Solutions, Arrived One, a tech lab and innovation company, has optimized artificial intelligence and open architecture to develop a formidable, computational, and networking energy management hub designed to reduce costs for consumers, reduce a home’s carbon footprint and allow utility companies to better manage their grid. Powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Edge AI Platform, the integration advances today’s intelligent meter to become the true nerve center of tomorrow’s brilliant home.

For the last 20 years we have seen a surge of technology disrupting industries by changing archaic and obsolete ways of certain tasks. Many of these disruptions happened in the workplace, as business owners have a financial incentive to increase labor productivity.

Intelligent homes are something that homeowners want to take part in, but do not yet know when or how that dream will become a reality. In the last ten years we have added hardware into our homes with technology upgrades, but all these disconnected devices are only an augmentation of an intelligent home. Our homes really are not that intelligent, no matter how intelligent that new refrigerator is or how intelligent the latest workout mirrors are. The terms intelligence and intelligent have been abused to a point that no one knows what they mean. To achieve true technological intelligence in the home, we need computing power that is resident in the home, connected to the grid and the cloud. The paradigm of what is possible needs to be rethought, and the goal should be for our homes, like our smartphones, to work for us and not against us. ArrivedOne and the Bullfrog Energy Ecosystem will be one of the first adopters of this revolutionary technology and use it to dramatically improve home energy management through the full integration of devices, data, and artificial intelligence.

COMBINING ALL THREE PARADIGMS

IOT: Internet of Things
Telemetry data from the physical world (objects and
sensors) to IOI

IOI: Internet of Intelligence
Networks of human and artificial intelligences combined with
distributed knowledge data

IOA: Internet of Automation
Interoperable networks of physical automation – transportation,
manipulation, and storage

“We are entering a new era that combines IOT: Internet of Things, IOI: Internet of
Intelligence, and IOA: Internet of Automation,” said David Brock visionary behind the
paradigm, CTO of Arrived One and Co-inventor of IoT.

“This new intelligence ecosystem senses the physical world, including identity, location
and telemetry (IOT); thinks about these data using a common knowledge representation
(IOI); and acts on that knowledge through cooperating physical automation (IOA). This new
paradigm creates powerful opportunities to intelligently manage large data sources that
optimize energy use in the home and beyond.”

A BRAIN — OR CENTRAL COMMAND CENTER FOR YOUR HOME IS NEEDED

An adage in the building space is “this home has good bones.” However, when looking to the future we have not done much in the way of creating a more cohesive and independent technological framework. The strain on energy grids is heavy now, but with the increase of electric vehicles our power resources will face over utilization. With more utilization sensitivity comes volatility and with volatility comes initiative-taking actions. A brain for the home in theory should connect in a variety of ways. Based on consumer habits we know not everyone wants to buy the same appliances, the same windows, etc. What we do know is that people at their core love simplicity along with functionality. Something can be cool, but if it does not provide value, what is the point? Inversely if it works but is not simple and usable, customers are likely to become disinterested and overwhelmed.

So, what will it take for a home to become truly initiative taking? First, we need a compact, edge AI supercomputer capable of being the stronghold for all devices in the home. Having the NVIDIA Jetson Edge AI Platform on the side of a home will function as the gateway for modeling and simulation around day-to-day changes that occur or do not, to make better decisions accessible by hardware in your home.

The focus historically has been on independent hardware and software working to control specific aspects of your home. BullFrog should be a focal point where all data gathered will be acted on.

BULLFROG™ OPEN ARCHITECTURE PLATFORM

By utilizing local computational power and connectivity at all levels of the energy value chain, the promise and benefits of intelligent energy management will be realized. The BullFrog intelligent meter ecosystem future-proofs home power management by connecting all devices and managing all home usage.

Bullfrog’s mission is to enable control built on an open architecture that welcomes others. Appliance, EV manufacturers and utilities can easily allow for connection to the BullFrog home energy management ecosystem.

BullFrog home intelligent meters will utilize under 40% of the computational power of the NVIDIA Jetson Edge AI Platform. This headroom allows for adding more devices and applications that bring to life a near-endless array of innovative ideas for homeowners and utilities.

The AI enabled-intelligent hub enables complex simulated environments for intelligent home management and sophisticated artificial intelligence networks for both immediate and future applications.

MERGING CONSUMERS ENERGY LIFE WITH THE REST OF THEIR LIVES

Energy management is becoming a critical part of a consumer’s life. The cost and availability of energy requires intelligent management of a home and grid. The ability to know real time consumption, carbon footprint impact, exact energy use per appliance and the addition of an electric vehicle requires seamless intelligent power management.

BullFrog is about putting the consumer in control of every aspect of their utility consumption. For utility players a more direct understanding of usage and the consumers behavior is critical. Mitigating weather, fire, and other dangers as climate change impacts weather patterns will require AI solutions supported by in-home computing power. Supporting throttling vs. brown/blackouts securely while respecting privacy requires an impenetrable home and grid.

ARRIVED ONE AND ANURANET HAVE ASSEMBLED A POWERFUL TEAM

PILOT PROGRAMS TO LAUNCH IN 2022

The CEO of Richland Building Partners Chris Barnhizer stated his excitement for the program:

“In collaborating with Anuranet and their Bullfrog Intelligent Meter and next gen
infrastructure energy solutions, Richland Homes is adding to its already advanced
home designs that we believe is a game changer in the industry. Our homes are at the
forefront of putting consumers in charge of their energy use and Bullfrog’s capabilities
ensures just that, which has not been seen at this level prior.”
