With that said, whether you’re looking for an overview of Delves, its locations, rewards, or even understanding Delve mechanics overall; we have got you covered in our quick yet comprehensive Delves guide.

Overview of Delves in The War Within

Delves are a type of underground dungeons in WoW that you can take part in to level up your character and earn lucrative rewards such as gears, mounts, and cosmetic items. Unlike raids, you can complete Delves both in team and solo which is great to know if you are more of a lone wolf in the game.

Delve Completion Time

Delve dungeons don’t take longer than 20 minutes to complete. The Explorer’s League Supplies item at the start of every delve allows you to repair your damaged gear, if any. As an experienced WoW veteran, you can easily complete a delve in about 10 minutes.

A maximum of 5 players can participate in a Delve dungeon at any given time. If you make up a party of 1-4 players, an NPC companion named Brann Bronzebeard will join you.

Brann Bronzebeard

Don’t worry about Brann though, he won’t let you down. You can customize him to fulfil the role that you or your team can benefit the most, whether be it a dedicated DPS or healer. This is because Brann has his own Talent tree that will allow you to fine-tune his abilities to best support your ventures through Delves. The Explorer’s League Supplies also lets you set up his talents.

Number of Delves

Continuing with our Delve guide, there are a total of 12 Delves in The War Within expansion, with a secret 13th Delve that will unlock only after the launch of Season 1 on September 10th.

Each Delve has its own set of 2-3 objectives that need to be met before you confront the final boss. Moreover, there are multiple variations for each delve and objectives differ depending on what delve variant you enter.

Delves Difficulty Levels

Delves have difficulty levels that range from Tier 1 to Tier 11, with rising numbers indicating rising difficulty. When you die during a delve, you get revived at the last checkpoint you crossed.

However, for Tiers 4-11, you have a limited number of 5 revives. The number of revives remaining at the end of a delve directly affects the quality of rewards you receive after completing the delve.

Delve Boss Fight

When you reach a Delve’s end, you confront a final boss. Defeating the boss will lead you to a treasure room ahead filled with multiple loot chests.

Delve Rewards and Bountiful Coffers

Figure 2: Delve Rewards

The Delve rewards are linked to Tier levels, with higher levels yielding higher rewards. However, rewards are capped at Tier 8. What’s more is that once you reach level 80, you have a chance to enter bountiful delve. You can find one on the map with a glowing cave icon.

Bountiful caves are specialized versions of regular delves but come with an extra coffer of treasure. While you can enter any Bountiful cave with regular items, know that you can only open up the Bountiful Coffer with a Restored Coffer Key.

And that’s all there is to Delve Mechanics in general in WoW The War Within.
