CCC Reinforces Commitment to Japan as Connected Vehicle Innovation Accelerates

CCC Members Meeting and Plugfest #17 highlight growing collaboration with Japanese automakers and technology leaders

KANAGAWA, Japan–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#CCCDigitalKey–The Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), the trusted source for defining how vehicles interact with devices and the world to enhance the consumer experience through standardized, secure, and convenient connectivity solutions, is reinforcing its long-term commitment to Japan as the country’s connected vehicle market continues to accelerate.

CCC is hosting two consecutive weeks of member engagement in Japan, beginning with its Members Meeting (March 3-5 in Yokohama) and followed by Plugfest #17 (March 9-13 in Kanagawa), hosted by Japan Automotive Software Platform and Architecture (JASPAR). Together, the events reflect CCC’s focus on enabling secure, interoperable digital vehicle access technologies through CCC Digital Key™ at global scale.

Japan’s connected vehicle market is gaining momentum as automakers accelerate the transition toward software-defined vehicles and consumer-facing digital services. Industry forecasts project the market will reach approximately USD $36.2 billion by 2034, highlighting the growing importance of standardized approaches to vehicle access, identity, and interoperability. That momentum is already evident, with connected car sales rising 34% year-over-year as OEMs expand digital features across their model lineups.

“For CCC, Japan is a strategic market for digital vehicle access innovation,” said Alysia Johnson, President of CCC. “Bringing our members together in Japan through the Members Meeting and Plugfest reinforces our commitment to supporting Japanese automakers and technology leaders as they advance secure, interoperable digital vehicle access.”

“Japan’s connected vehicle industry is entering a new phase. Software, security, and interoperability are foundational, and innovative ideas must build off those foundations,” said Mr. Funai who is chairperson of Connectivity WG, JASPAR. “Participating in CCC’s Members Meeting and hosting Plugfest #17 enables collaboration with many of the top companies working to advance digital key interoperability and standardization efforts, which we greatly support.”

During the Members Meeting in Yokohama, CCC’s more than 300 member companies will convene to collaborate on emerging use cases, specification development, and certification programming related to digital vehicle access.

Plugfest #17 will bring together CCC members for a week of hands-on interoperability testing focused on CCC Digital Key™, enabling secure, smart device-based vehicle access. CCC Plugfest events provide a neutral environment for automakers, device manufacturers, and technology providers to test interoperability against CCC specifications.

Participants include AUMOVIO, COMPRION GmbH, Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd., DEKRA, Ellisys, Google LLC, Honda, Samsung, Sony Honda Mobility Inc., and Toyota.

“Our work in Japan is focused on long-term collaboration, ensuring that CCC standards evolve in step with the region’s connected vehicle priorities,” said Xiaoyu (Zoe) Fan, CCC APAC Director. “We appreciate JASPAR’s partnership and their role in hosting our members for our first Plugfest in Japan.”
