As a result of an industry push to accelerate New Approach Methodologies (NAMS), BioIVT’s experts will focus on tracks and presentations discussing the development, validation, and utilization of NAMs for a variety of ADME-Tox applications
WESTBURY, N.Y.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–BioIVT, a global research partner and biospecimen solutions provider for drug and diagnostic development, today announced it will host “Elevating Drug Development with NAMs: Meeting the FDA’s Call for Change,” a complimentary symposium on Oct. 22, 2025 in San Diego. BioIVT will host a panel of industry experts at The Alexandria at Torrey Pines in San Diego during the event for a series of presentations and discussions around the development, validation, and utilization of NAMs for a variety of ADME-Tox applications. Please visit BioIVT’s website for registration and additional details here.
“This event comes on the heels of regulatory agencies and industry innovators accelerating the push to utilize scientifically validated NAMs, which aim to provide more human-relevant preclinical drug safety and efficacy data while eliminating unnecessary animal testing,” said Joanna Barbara, Site Lead – ADME Research Products & Services at BioIVT. “We’re looking forward to bringing together some of the brightest minds in the NAMs space to foster meaningful conversations to drive innovation and development in the field.”
The BioIVT team will also be hosting an ongoing webinar series this fall focused on HEPATOPAC: Novel Applications Supporting NAMs. Offered as a research service or kit, HEPATOPAC® is a long-term hepatic micropatterned co-culture (MPCC) NAM that has been shown to provide superior data, especially for low turnover compounds, compared to conventional in vitro models. HEPATOPAC has been widely used in metabolism and toxicity studies and is now being adopted for other ADME applications. Please visit BioIVT’s website for registration and additional details here.
Additionally, BioIVT is attending the 14th International Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (ISSX) International Meeting in Chicago from Sept. 21–24, 2025.
At ISSX, the BioIVT team will dive deep into NAMs-focused presentations from thought leadership tracks to posters. Kent Grindstaff, PhD, Consulting Director at BioIVT, will give a thought leadership presentation titled “Context of Use: When Considering Fit-for-Purpose Alone Isn’t Sufficient.” The presentation, scheduled for Sept. 22 at 2:15 PM CT, will provide an overview of applications in discovery and preclinical development and address the recent focus on NAMs to replace, reduce, and refine animal use in legacy formats.
Additionally, poster presentations focused on NAMs will be at ISSX including:
- “Comparative Analysis of Primary Human Hepatocyte Spheroids in Standard and Microcavity Plates for ADME-TOX Assays,” by Karissa Cottier, PhD, Manager of R&D at BioIVT and others.
- “Use of siRNA to Minimize Off-Target Effects for Reaction Phenotyping of Low Turnover Compounds in a Long Term Micropatterned Co-Culture Model-HEPATOPAC,” by Karissa Cottier, PhD, Manager of R&D at BioIVT, Jeannemarie Gaffney, Sr. Manager of Manufacturing and Process Development for ADME Products at BioIVT, and others.
Attendees can visit booth #313 in Chicago to learn more about BioIVT’s products and services at ISSX. For a full overview on BioIVT’s involvement in ISSX 2025, please visit BioIVT’s website here.
