What Happened?
On November 20, 2025, Bath & Body Works released its third quarter 2025 financial results, missing the Company’s prior guidance on EPS and sales growth, and cutting full year guidance for net sales to “down high single digits.”
In an earnings call held the same day, the Company’s CEO, Daniel Heaf, stated “while the consumer environment is tougher, this is no excuse as we continue to underperform the sector.” CEO Heaf then offered a “diagnosis” of the Company’s underperformance, including that it had “pursued adjacencies to attract new consumers but that strategy has not delivered the growth we expected and it reduced focus in investing in our core categories.” Heaf further states brand collaborations “have been used to carry quarters” and “as these strategies and other tactics have not delivered growth, we have relied on deeper and more frequent promotions.”
On this news, Bath & Body Works’ stock price fell $5.22, or 24.8%, to close at $15.82 per share on November 20, 2025, thereby injuring investors.
