NORTHRIDGE, Calif., Sept. 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Sponsored by the Office of Naval Research, Areté debuted its Pushbroom Imaging LiDAR for Littoral Surveillance (PILLS) Next Generation (PNGS) system at REMPUS 2025 in Portugal, doubling performance of legacy systems from 60Hz to 120Hz. The system was flown on a Schiebel CAMCOPTER® S-100 and demonstrated launch and recovery from a Portuguese Offshore Patrol Vessel. This inaugural flight was paired with additional data collections using a legacy 30Hz sensor, focusing on obstacle detection. This technology is derived from the Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS), PILLS/PNGS has put an emphasis on Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) reductions to operate on Group 2/3 UAS, bringing advanced bathymetric and obstacle detection capabilities to tactical platforms.
