DAYTON, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–altafiber has reached the midway point of its fiber build in Dayton and the surrounding region, as the technology company’s cutting-edge multi-gig XGS-PON fiber network is now available to 70,000 residential and business addresses.
altafiber’s infrastructure investment into Dayton and the surrounding region – which includes Montgomery County and Greene County, as well as Franklin Township, Springboro Township, and Clearcreek Township – will total approximately $200 million and 2,300 fiber route miles when completed.
altafiber continues to work collaboratively with each municipality in an effort to complete the rollout as soon as possible.
Greg Wheeler, altafiber’s Chief Operating Officer, shared details of the company’s progress and commitment to Dayton on February 13 at the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s Breakfast Briefing.
Wheeler added that altafiber has invested approximately $3 million into Dayton-based partnerships and civic projects – with a particular focus on organizations dedicated to technology, sustainability, and economic mobility initiatives.
“I want to take this opportunity to personally reaffirm our full commitment to invest in a future-proof network in the Dayton region that will serve this community for generations to come,” said Wheeler.
“Gigabit connectivity is an essential component of economic development, and mission-critical for individuals and families who depend on the Internet for access to education, employment, and healthcare. We’re committed to extending the fiber network to all of our friends and neighbors in Dayton.”
