AI’s Impact on Breakups, Love, and Divorce

Artificial intelligence is impacting almost every area of our lives nowadays. It has changed the way we work, the way we shop, and even our entertainment choices.

AI has also had an impact on our romantic relationships. While you can still ask for someone’s number after the first meeting or get married (or divorced) using traditional methods, AI has opened up new possibilities when it comes to love – whether you’re falling into it or out of it.

Artificial intelligence might not be able to impact your emotions or feelings, but it can do a lot when it comes to just about every other aspect of your relationships.  Let’s take a closer look at the input it has, and how these very human processes have been made a bit easier thanks to tech advancements.

Dating

A 2015 survey found that the average single person goes on 41 dates per year. About 69% of those people do background checks on the people they’re going out with before they start dating them.

Since 2015, however, AI has advanced and has taken a lot of the guesswork out of dating.

While dating sites and apps are nothing new, AI has made them easier to use, and it’s more likely you’ll find someone compatible thanks to detailed algorithms. These algorithms not only line you up with people you’re more likely to connect with, but they encourage you to get to know each other.

AI also takes a lot of the hassle out of dating apps, improving the overall experience by

  • Filtering out fake accounts
  • Offering personalized recommendations
  • Correcting grammar and spelling issues

There’s no denying that our lives have become digital, and the dating scene is no different. Whether you’re tired of being set up by friends or having to go out several nights a week just for the chance to meet someone, trying a dating app backed by AI could help you find your perfect partner in no time.

Weddings

Weddings are some of the most traditional celebrations we have. Though every culture (and even family) might do things slightly differently, there are some traditions in place for a reason.

However, weddings are often a lot of work! From finding a perfect venue to narrowing down a guest list, the couple getting married can end up feeling overwhelmed and stressed months before the big day arrives.

To reduce that stress, non-traditional weddings are on the rise. From unique venues to personalized decor, many people are choosing to go the alternative route when it comes to their special day.

Technology has started to play a bigger role in those alternative solutions. For example, we saw a huge rise in virtual ceremonies throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the pandemic, those ceremonies were often held out of necessity to keep friends and family members safe. However, many people are sticking with them. They can save thousands of dollars, and friends and family can “attend” from anywhere in the world.

Some people have even used AI officiants on their wedding day. If you can’t decide on an officiant or want to surprise your guests with something different, having an AI friend officiate your ceremony will give everyone something to talk about!

Divorce

No one gets married expecting to get divorced. Unfortunately, it happens. The divorce rate in the U.S. is currently 2.3 per 1,000 people.

Even if your marriage ends amicably, going through a divorce is always difficult. Some of the biggest stressors that often occur with divorce include:

  • Paying attorney fees
  • Changing homes
  • Having to get a job
  • Losing friends or family members
  • Losing a sense of your identity

However, there are some AI processes that are making it easier and quicker, so you don’t have to dwell on it for months.

One app called Wevorce changing the way modern-day divorces work. It’s an app designed to help guide couples through a divorce without having to use an attorney or deal with complicated issues. While it’s not for everyone, it’s a great alternative for couples who are ending things on good terms and want a quick, painless process.

Apps like these can also make the process easier on your mental health and can help you and your partner work together to talk to your children about your separation.

Michelle Crosby, the founder of Wevorce, was inspired by her own childhood experience. She was asked to go on the stand in court during her parents’ divorce, and she recognized as an adult that children shouldn’t have to go through that, if at all possible.

No matter the stage of love you’re in (or out of!), AI can serve as a guide. There’s nothing that will ever be able to replace the human connection, and some things will always remain somewhat traditional.

However, if you’re willing to branch out and let technology guide you throughout different stages of your romantic relationships, you might find that things are a lot easier and less stressful. What’s not to love about that?
