WASHINGTON and MINNEAPOLIS, April 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — New data from GED Testing Service® shows that adult learners using the GED & Me® mobile app are achieving measurable gains, averaging three percentage points higher on first test attempts across subjects. Among learners who continue studying in the app and take a subsequent test, pass rates increase by as much as five percentage points. The improvements follow the introduction of an AI-powered math tutor designed to help learners overcome academic barriers and persist toward earning their credential.
The GED credential remains a critical pathway to workforce participation, postsecondary education, and higher wages. Yet nearly 60% of learners who create an account on GED.com make no measurable progress toward testing within a year, often stalling when they encounter difficulty in math.
To address this persistence gap, GED Testing Service launched its AI Math Tutor within the GED & Me mobile app in July 2025. Since then:
- More than 18,000 learners have engaged with the tutor
- Over 132,000 AI-powered chat interactions have taken place
- Learners spend an average of 10.7 minutes per session with the tutor
- 46% of learners answering math questions in the app have used the AI support feature
Learners most frequently seek help with decimals, fractions, percentages, mean, area, and solving for variables which are foundational concepts that often create roadblocks for adults returning to education.
One learner noted, “The app has all the subjects and tools you need. I passed all three of my remaining subjects to graduate and earn my GED by using the app!”
Mobile engagement is accelerating. More than 60% of GED learners now access their preparation materials via mobile devices. February 2026 marked the highest month of mobile engagement since the app’s launch, surpassing even its release month with more than 21,000 new users and 54,000 active users.
“Confidence drives persistence,” said CT Turner, President of GED Testing Service. “When learners receive immediate, personalized support at the moment they’re struggling, they’re more likely to continue studying and complete their credential. Our AI tools are grounded in learning science and learner data allowing us to deliver on personalized support that translates into measurable gains in persistence and outcomes.”
Building on the early success of the math tutor, GED Testing Service recently introduced an AI-powered Science tutor, expanding real-time subject support within the app.
The GED & Me mobile app is available in the Apple App Store and Google Play. For more information, visit https://www.ged.com/study/ged-mobile-app.html.
