Google unveils its intelligent search box, Sonata posts growth from AI services as Fortune 500 reaches an all-time high: May Roundup

This May Google unveiled an overhaul of its infamous search engine, introducing a reimagined “intelligent search box.”

The biggest change that Google has made to its core product in over two decades could see a major shift in how AI is used to help users answer and navigate the web, with a big move towards integrated intelligence.

Elsewhere, we can clearly see that AI continues to put down roots across business operations, firmly closing the chapter on its early years of tentative adoption.

A new data analysis released in May highlighted the incredible pace of AI adoption across the Fortune 500. This year to-date 85% of Fortune 500 companies have now mentioned AI in their annual filings, up from 29% in 2022.

This is further proof that AI is no longer optional, but rather it has become non-negotiable for the world’s largest businesses. This shift means that software engineering companies that specialize in complex AI initiatives are in high demand, and their revenue is showing the results.

Sonata specializes in AI modernization services, and in its latest financial report it announced that its consolidated revenue from both domestic products and its international IT services for FY’26 had reached $1.11 billion

Part of the company’s strength is its ability to consider the complementary cloud and data technologies that are essential to complex AI initiatives. The company has been a Microsoft partner for 30 years and was one of the first to be recognized as a Microsoft Frontier Partner. As Microsoft accelerates its AI-first strategy, Sonata is focused on helping customers move from isolated AI adoption to enterprise-wide deployment of agentic business processes.

Beyond the demand for AI modernization services seen in enterprises, there were no shortage of AI stories this past month.
