Serving Those Who Served: Comfort Keepers North Georgia Veteran Program Earns National Innovation Award

CK GA Innovation Award 1 Serving Those Who Served: Comfort Keepers North Georgia Veteran Program Earns National Innovation AwardComfort Keepers of North Georgia has been recognized with a National Innovation Award at the recent Comfort Keepers conference in Dallas for a program helping redefine what innovation in senior care can look like—not through technology, but through access, advocacy, and human connection.

The award honors the organization’s community-based Veteran Program, led by owner Jennifer Jack-Wunder, LPN, with contributions from veteran team members Dakota Botts and Noah Goodwin, and recognizes an innovative approach to helping aging veterans access care and benefits they have earned through service.

For many senior veterans and their families, one of the greatest challenges is not a lack of available support, but navigating the complexity of systems designed to provide it. Many veterans qualify for benefits that can help offset or cover in-home care, yet those benefits often go unused due to confusion, paperwork barriers, or lack of guidance.

Comfort Keepers’ program was designed to help close that gap by bringing support directly into the home. Local veterans walk fellow veterans and families through the process, advocate on their behalf, and help make community-based care more accessible.

But the innovation extends beyond benefits navigation.

Built on a “veterans helping veterans” model, the program also creates meaningful opportunities for veterans and military families to serve others through purpose-driven employment, fostering trust, connection, and support rooted in shared experience.

“This is about more than care,” said Jennifer Jack-Wunder. “It’s about removing barriers, restoring dignity, and helping ensure those who served our country receive the support they’ve earned.”

The recognition reflects a broader commitment to evolving how care is experienced at home. Many families supporting senior veterans are balancing caregiving, careers, and the emotional realities of changing health needs. Consistent community-based support can provide greater peace of mind and stability during life’s transitions.

As demand for in-home care continues to grow, the program highlights a broader shift in the industry. Innovation is not always about creating something new, but sometimes about fixing what has been too difficult to navigate for far too long.

In a world often focused on innovation through technology, this recognition serves as a powerful reminder. Sometimes the greatest innovation is simply making sure no one is left to navigate life’s hardest moments alone.
