BELLEVUE, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–INRIX, a global leader in transportation data and analytics, has launched a new AI solution, designed specifically for safety analytics. INRIX Compass™, an advanced generative AI agent designed specifically to help transportation agencies improve roadway safety, is now available to customers. To help cities and government agencies quickly identify systemic safety risk before serious crashes occur, Compass leverages large language models (LLMs) and a massive data lake of speed and exposure data, including speeding trends, hard braking patterns, and vulnerable road user risk factors, and state and federal guidance. Compass is purpose-built for safety teams, helping enable them to make faster, data-backed decisions to reduce fatalities and serious injuries.
With more than 40,000 people killed on U.S. roadways each year, transportation agencies are under increasing pressure to identify systemic risks and accelerate proven safety interventions. INRIX’s AI product can help cities and state agencies identify areas of the roadway with systemic safety concerns and provide specific countermeasures based on the underlying data and industry best practices. By shifting safety analysis from reactive reporting to proactive prevention, INRIX Compass helps agencies prioritize interventions that save lives.
“We’re incredibly excited about the potential of INRIX Compass to deliver even more value by helping us combine disparate data sources to gain a better understanding about systemic safety risks and support proposing FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures,” said Jarice Rodriguez, Interim Chief Paratransit Operations, Miami-Dade County Office of Innovation and Mobility Services. “Compass and INRIX Safety Analytics platform has made an immediate impact across multiple teams at Miami-Dade County. The ability to easily analyze volume, speed, and vulnerable road user data to better protect pedestrians, cyclists and all roadway users across our network is enabling us to deliver on key outcomes for both our USDOT SMART Grant and the County’s broader vision-zero initiatives.”
INRIX Compass™ is powered by Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service on Amazon Web Services (AWS) that offers a choice of leading foundation models and a broad set of capabilities to build generative AI applications. Through a close partnership and collaboration with AWS, Compass integrates Amazon Bedrock with INRIX proprietary cloud-based data lake and industry knowledge to train and deploy models tailored for unique mobility needs.
“We’ve used INRIX safety data to help us with before/after analysis on areas where we have completed safety improvements. It has been a big time-saver in project evaluation,” said Lia Grimaldi, Engineering Project Manager with the City of Las Vegas. “We are excited to experiment with Compass to see how we can quickly analyze various corridors and implement appropriate FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures.”
“We are pleased to launch INRIX Compass in partnership with multiple, innovative customers,” said Bryan Mistele, CEO, INRIX. “We have already heard real-world examples of Compass helping agencies uncover the root causes of high-injury corridors, evaluate safety improvements before implementation, and accelerate deployment of FHWA Proven Safety Countermeasures.”
INRIX Compass™ is available in the United States for safety-focused transportation agencies and Vision Zero leaders. Learn more here.
