
3M will form a new joint venture to offer best-in-class safety, fire-rescue, and suppression solutions for firefighters, first responders, and industrial workers

PAUL, Minn., March 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ —ย 3M (NYSE:ย MMM) announced todayย that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Madison Fire & Rescue, in partnership with Bainย Capital. 3M and Bain Capital willย establishย a new joint ventureย in which 3M willย contributeย Scottย Safety, receive $700M of cash proceeds upon closingย andย own 50.1% ofย the new company withย Bainย Capitalย owning 49.9%.ย 3M’s deepย expertiseย andย track recordย in the safety industry combined withย Bainย Capital’sย capability to integrate businesses, accelerate growthย and driveย synergiesย makeย this an ideal partnership.
Madison Fire & Rescue offers a premier portfolio in rescue technology and fire suppression,ย including productsย offeredย under the Holmatro, Amkus, Task Force Tips, Fire Fighting Systems,ย and Wateraxย brands.ย This business aligns with 3M, sharing strengths in technology innovation, quality and reliability, and brand.
Theย combinationย of Scott’s premiumย Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) solutionsย with Madison Fire & Rescue’s complementaryย portfolioย will enable theย companyย to better serve firefighters, first responders and industrial workers.
