SHANGHAI, Sept. 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Serving as a gateway for international cooperation and exchange in science and technology, the 2025 Pujiang Innovation Forum took place in Shanghai from September 20 to 22. Established in 2008, the Forum has continued to broaden its agenda, becoming a recognized venue for scientific and technological innovation in China and around the world. This year’s theme was “Sharing Innovation, Shaping the Future: Building an Open and Cooperative Global Sci-Tech Community.”

This year’s Forum welcomed 550 science and technology leaders from more than 300 institutions across 45 countries and regions. About 40% of the international participants came from Belarus, the United States, Germany, Switzerland, and Denmark, as well as from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. Guided by a focus on practical needs and problem-solving, this year’s Forum convened representatives from a wide range of sectors to provide perspectives supporting China’s strategy to advance science and technology leadership. The Science and Technology Policy Forum examined the integration of technological and industrial innovation and reviewed key measures for reforming the science and technology framework. The Regional Innovation Development Forum and the National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone Forum addressed ways to strengthen regional collaboration, encourage meaningful dialogue, and promote cross-regional alignment of innovation resources.

Reflecting current global trends in science and technology, the 2025 Pujiang Innovation Forum outlined new directions for the growth of future industries. Thematic sessions were organized on Web 3.0, computational biology, future materials, future energy, aerospace and marine science, global health, and sustainable low-carbon practices. The InnoMatch Tech-Matching Fair, a central part of the Forum, posted 10,000 technology requests worldwide, with participating businesses committing over 20 billion yuan in funding. The Fair also announced 2,000 new job opportunities and showcased more than 80 new products and demonstration projects in advanced fields. More than 120 major companies, over 200 small and medium-sized businesses, and more than 200 universities, research institutes, and service providers took part both online and in person.
