An immersive walk-around tasting and masterclass with 38 top producers showcases the region’s diversity, distinctive terroirs, and signature wines
NEW YORK, Sept. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Anticipation is building for the upcoming Wines of Friuli Venezia Giulia Tasting, a full-day celebration of one of Italy’s most distinctive wine regions. The event will take place on October 8 at Bryant Park Grill in New York City. UNI.DOC FVG, the union of all regional wine Consortia of Friuli Venezia Giulia, will be present alongside 38 of the region’s renowned producers, offering trade and media an immersive experience that showcases the diversity, terroir, and exceptional quality of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s wines.
The day will begin with an exclusive masterclass from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, led by acclaimed Sommelier, Wine Educator and Journalist Jeff Porter. With more than two decades of experience in retail, restaurants, and education, Porter has been featured in The New York Times, Los Angeles Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, The Financial Times, and was named one of Wine Enthusiast’s “40 Under 40 Tastemakers.”
The seminar will present a carefully curated selection of wines from multiple DOCs across Friuli Venezia Giulia, offering attendees a rare opportunity to explore the full spectrum of the region’s vinous identity. By showcasing wines from different denominations, the masterclass will highlight Friuli’s unique terroirs and indigenous grape varieties, including Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso.
From 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, guests will be welcomed to a walk-around tasting featuring 38 wineries from across the region. This broad and diverse lineup will allow trade and media professionals to meet winery representatives firsthand and experience the depth of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s production, from crisp, mineral-driven whites and refined sparkling wines to elegant reds and distinctive orange wines.
Adding to the experience, guests will also enjoy the celebrated Montasio DOP cheese, a culinary treasure of Friuli Venezia Giulia. With over 250 years of documented excellence and origins traceable to Benedictine monks in the Middle Ages, Montasio is renowned for its delicate yet complex flavor, thanks to its gentle production process and slow aging, which preserve the natural richness of the milk.
“By combining an educational deep dive with an extensive tasting, this event reflects the true richness of Friuli Venezia Giulia,” says Marco Rabino, President of UNI.DOC FVG. “Our goal is to highlight the diversity of our denominations while sharing the stories and traditions that make our wines unique. This also marks the first time such a large group of producers from Friuli Venezia Giulia comes together to present itself to the U.S. market, making this debut even more meaningful”
With its dynamic program and outstanding lineup of producers, the Wines of Friuli Venezia Giulia Tasting promises to be a prominent event for the U.S. wine trade and media, offering a unique opportunity to connect directly with winemakers, deepen knowledge, and discover why Friuli Venezia Giulia stands as one of Italy’s most distinctive wine regions.
