University of Phoenix Celebrates National Transfer Student Week With New Mobile App Providing Preliminary Evaluation of Transfer Credits at No Cost

University’s new app ‘TransferPath®’ designed for new, incoming students is available in the Apple and Google Play stores

PHOENIX–(BUSINESS WIRE)–University of Phoenix celebrates National Transfer Student Week with the launch of a new, patent-pending mobile app, TransferPath®, designed to help prospective students with some credit, but no degree, quickly see potential savings with a free college credit pre-evaluation. University of Phoenix offers generous credit transfer possibilities, accepting credits from over 5,000 accredited institutions, and the ability to transfer in up to 87 prior eligible credits for many degree programs.

The new, mobile app allows users who have previously attended community college, a four-year university, or another institution to explore associate and bachelor’s degree options, upload transcripts and receive a free, unofficial preliminary evaluation of their transfer credits.

“We understand our students are often continuing their educational journey with us,” states Devin Andrews, vice president, Admissions and Evaluation. “University of Phoenix is built for the busy, working adult, many who have already completed courses for college credit, and often at multiple schools. We built this app to empower prospective students to upload transcripts and get faster answers on how their past credits may transfer—all from the convenience of their smartphone.”

In the past year alone, University of Phoenix accepted more than one million transfer credits for undergraduate students, an average of 33 credits per bachelor’s transfer student and an average tuition savings of more than $11,000 per transfer student for a bachelor’s degree program.

The National Student Clearinghouse reports that there are 43.1 million individuals under the age of 65 with some college but no credential.

As a transfer-friendly university, University of Phoenix has invested in a credit mobility culture, implementing policies and processes to support transfer students. On average, University of Phoenix students with eligible credits and relevant experience, on average, saved $11K and 1 year off their undergraduate degree.

The mobile app builds on the capabilities of the University’s Savings Explorer™ tool designed to help prospective students understand the opportunities to save time and money at University of Phoenix.

While the transition between institutions can be complex, the University of Phoenix works to make the process of transferring credit straightforward for students:

  • Providing the Transfer Student Guide, an extensive resource designed to help students and prospective students understand college transfer credit opportunities, save time, and reduce the cost of their education.
  • Simplifying the college credit transfer process: knowledgeable staff provide supportive guidance and academic advising, request transcripts from prior institutions on students’ behalf when able, and specially trained transfer evaluators review all prior credit.
  • Earning life and work experience credits: earning college credit for prior learning is an assessment process, offered at no cost, that allows individuals to demonstrate learning gained from work and life experience that may count towards a degree. The assessment includes evaluation of on-the-job training, workplace certifications, military service, and other life experiences.

Additionally, University of Phoenix offers college transfer credit opportunity through the Transfer Student Scholarship with reward amounts of up to $3,000, for new students who transfer in 12-60 combined credits from accredited institution(s) pursuing their bachelor’s degree at University of Phoenix. Applicants must be continuously enrolled and maintain a 3.0 GPA (Grade Point Average).
