Sports Data Labs, Inc. Secures Foundational Patent for System to Monetize Human Data and its AI-Generated Derivatives in India

Issuance of Patent No. 570364 grants SDL exclusive rights in India to a novel system configured to monetize human data from sensors and sensing systems, as well as its AI-generated derivatives, including synthetic human data, on both an individual and group basis on behalf of athletes, patients, and everyday citizens.

CLEVELAND–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#ai–Sports Data Labs, Inc. (“SDL”), an award-winning leader in AI-based collection, analysis, and distribution of human data from sensors and other systems, announced today that the Patent Office, Government of India has issued Patent No. 570364 to the company covering a novel data request and distribution system for sensor-based human data (e.g., tracking data, physiological data, biomechanical data, biological fluid data, genetic data, genomic data, other electronic medical record data collected from a device or machine that senses information) and associated metadata, as well as AI-generated synthetic data-based derivatives.

SDL’s issued patent, entitled “Monetization of Animal [Human] Data,” covers a novel system configured to collect sensor-based human data, attach metadata to collected data (e.g., contextual data, other personal information), create or adjust a value (e.g., monetary value) associated with the human data and its associated metadata, and distribute data to one or more third parties. Characteristically, the system can be configured to distribute human data and its associated metadata based on a request for such data by the third party, which can include the distribution of requested data in exchange for consideration (e.g., a monetary fee or other value provided). The system can be optionally structured as a marketplace-like platform.

The issued patent also covers an AI-based system that allows third parties to request and access generated synthetic data-based derivatives of real human data (e.g., synthetic human data sets, predictions, forecasts) in exchange for consideration, supporting AI-based model training and other use cases.

The issued patent, which is pending in the US, Japan, and other key markets globally, will provide SDL with exclusivity for its invention in India until April 2040.

“We are thrilled to be issued this foundational data monetization patent in India that has been designed to capitalize on the unprecedented demand for large, categorized, longitudinal personal data sets,” said Vivek Khare, Co-Inventor and CTO of SDL, the assignee of Patent No. 570364. “With your personal data being the lifeblood of AI models that power multiple trillion-dollar industries from healthcare to insurance to wellness to sports betting, our patented data collection and distribution system has been designed to enable greater access to personal data sets and derived synthetic data by enabling individuals to participate in the monetization of their personal data based upon its distribution and use.”

“The opportunity to leverage this IP in India, home to over 1.4 billion people, to exclusively power the Human Data Economy is unprecedented,” said Stan Mimoto, Co-Inventor and President of SDL. “We believe that in this emerging economy, you will look at your personal data like you look at your house or stock portfolio. It is an asset with tremendous value that powers our understanding of how our bodies work and change over time on both an individual and group basis that allows us to identify and prevent diseases, develop new therapies and products, increase lifespans, optimize our health and biological performance, predict event outcomes, and provide dynamic & personalized guidance for everyday living. Our patented technology not only enables your personal data to become a monetizable asset that allows you to see value from its distribution and use, but furthers our collective understanding of the human body which will ultimately allow us to live longer, healthier, more productive lives.”

SDL’s issued patent covers use cases that include athletes, patients, and everyday citizens. In sports, SDL’s patented system – branded the Athlete Data Marketplace™- will operate as its data licensing and distribution platform to support the acquisition (e.g., license, sale) of human data and its derivatives by third parties on behalf of athletes and other representative organizations for a variety of commercial opportunities across sport in India including cricket.

SDL has thirteen active patent families globally. This is the company’s second issued patent in India alongside its SaaS-Based, Real-Time Health Diagnostics and Sensor Interoperability System.
