PolyCera® Selected for Offshore Produced Water Treatment Units with CNOOC

INGLEWOOD, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#membranes–PolyCera®, a brand of PSP.US, Inc., announces that it has been awarded the scope to deliver 10 produced water treatment units for offshore platforms operated by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). These systems range in capacity from 100 t/d (630 barrels/d) up to 1,000 t/d (6,300 barrels/d), collectively supporting safe and sustainable offshore oil and gas production.

The selection follows a successful 26-month pilot program conducted from 2021 to 2023 on an offshore platform in the East China Sea, where PolyCera® Titan UF membranes demonstrated stable removal of suspended solids, emulsified oil, and free oil under challenging conditions. Combined with a proprietary resin adsorption step, the system consistently reduced oil content in treated water to below 40 mg/L, meeting offshore discharge standards and achieving recovery rates up to 98%.

The new units will leverage the same proven process, ensuring strong adaptability to fluctuating influent water quality (oil concentrations from 90–300 mg/L) while maintaining stable operation. The design requires no chemical dosing under normal operation, minimizes waste generation, and ensures safety by avoiding hazardous cleaning chemicals.

“We are proud to extend our collaboration with CNOOC following years of joint testing and validation,” said Jianbo Wen, CEO of PolyCera®. “This award confirms the robustness of our Titan membranes and the reliability of our integrated solution for offshore produced water treatment.”

By combining advanced membrane ultrafiltration with efficient resin adsorption, these systems set a new benchmark for offshore produced water management, delivering compact footprints of 30–90 m² (300-1000 ft²), depending on unit size, high recovery, and discharge compliance, even under variable operating conditions.
