OPEXUS Announces Record Growth with Impressive New Bookings and Customer Retention

Company’s government-centric innovation process matches increased market demand for secure, scalable software solutions

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–OPEXUS, a leader in government case management software, today announced a record-breaking year of growth. In 2023, OPEXUS saw 83% growth in new bookings and 99% logo retention. The company’s most successful year-to-date is largely credited to its unique approach to developing built-for-government solutions that focus specifically on the processes and reporting requirements unique to the public sector.

Government agencies are seeing an increased need for secure software solutions that empower their offices to deliver their missions more efficiently and effectively. In 2023, OPEXUS continued meeting this demand and fueled its growth with the addition of 43 new government customers across the company’s FOIAXpress® and eCASE® applications for audit, investigations, FOIA, and workforce management. This includes 20 new customers across state, local, and Canadian governments and 18 new U.S. federal customers that were previously using FOIAOnline. FOIAOnline was a government-sponsored FOIA solution that was sunset in fall of 2023.

OPEXUS also recently announced it would be offering its open-government solution, FOIAXpress® to state and local agencies, bringing 30 years of experience and the first FedRAMP- and StateRAMP-certified solution for offices that experience high volumes of open records requests.

“This year marks the 25th birthday of FOIAXpress, cementing our commitment to delivering tools that are built for government at their core,” said OPEXUS CEO Howard Langsam. “We are proud that OPEXUS has helped lead the way for our public sector customers, whose behavior suggests a growing shift away from services toward the reliability and predictability of scalable software solutions.”

In its mission to empower the administrative layer of government to embrace modernization and streamline workflows, OPEXUS worked with more than 120 agencies in 2023 to process more than 200,000 FOIA requests, including OPEXUS customer, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Notably, the Government Accountability Office recently highlighted VA’s government-best 83% backlog reduction over the last five fiscal years.

The company continues to see increased adoption of multiple OPEXUS products within a single agency. For example, the Department of Veterans Affairs also uses eCASE Audit and workforce management solutions to coordinate case management in human resources, FOIA, and OIG offices, serving more than 500,000 government employees across 400 geographically dispersed locations.

Since its move to downtown Washington, DC in 2023, OPEXUS has gathered software users, government leaders, and industry experts at more than 20 events, including the OPEXUS Annual Summit where more than 200 government leaders gathered to network, learn, and share best practices. The DC office has also helped grow the OPEXUS employee base to more than 220 employees, an 88% increase in staff year-on-year.
