MISSOULA, Mont., Oct. 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — onX, the pioneer in digital mapping solutions for outdoor adventures, has teamed up with T-Mobile to bring T-Satellite with Starlink-enabled data connectivity to its suite of apps: onX Hunt, onX Offroad, onX Backcountry, and onX Fish. The collaboration gives onX customers access to critical, real-time weather information right from their phones, even when they recreate beyond the reach of traditional cell service.
“For nearly two decades, outdoor enthusiasts, including hunters, hikers, anglers, off-roaders, backcountry skiers, and more, have turned to onX to help them explore new landscapes with confidence,” said onX Principal Product Manager, Andi Anderson. “And while our apps include thousands of layers of information to inform these adventures, one of the most critical elements of an epic day outside is weather. Wind can blow a hunt, rain can wash out trails, storms can destabilize a snow pack, and lightning can end a fishing trip before it begins. Having the ability to check real-time conditions, even while adventuring in remote places, can make all the difference.”
At launch, onX customers with capable devices and qualifying T-Satellite service from T-Mobile can tap into this new satellite connectivity and access the following weather-based insights in their onX App, even when far away from traditional cell service:
- Real-time weather and wind conditions for any location on the map
- Seven-day and hourly forecasts for any location on the map
- The Deer Movement Forecast (onX Hunt feature)
This launch marks the beginning of a broader effort to expand satellite-enabled capabilities across onX apps. Future updates will bring even more dynamic information to adventurers in the field.
In addition to weather insights, users can continue to rely on industry-leading offline functionality, including:
- Downloadable Offline Maps
- Compass and Orientation Tools
- Map Markup Content (Waypoints, Tracks, Lines, Areas)
- GPS Tracking and Route Building
- 3D Imagery (onX Backcountry)
“Satellite connectivity is no longer reserved for emergencies. It’s becoming part of how we experience the world,” said Anderson. “But we also know that many of our customers seek the outdoors to step away from instant connection. With this new partnership, onX gives adventurers the best of both worlds: the ability to unplug and immerse themselves in nature, while still having access to critical information when it counts. It’s about making time outside safer, more informed, and ultimately more rewarding.”
