Nextdoor’s 13th Annual Treat Map Returns to Help Neighbors Uncover Local Halloween Gems

The essential neighborhood network’s interactive Halloween guide is back as new data reveals 99% of parents on Nextdoor plan to celebrate spooky season

SAN FRANCISCO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nextdoor Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: NXDR), the essential neighborhood network, today announced the return of its annual Treat Map. For the 13th consecutive year, this beloved interactive guide helps neighbors connect to the best of their neighborhood during Halloween. The Treat Map is the go-to tool for finding the most festive homes, planning trick-or-treat routes, and sharing in the spirit of the season.

From now through October 31, neighbors can place a pin on the Treat Map to share their plans, signaling whether they will be handing out candy or showcasing spooktacular decorations. To help trick-or-treaters plan their perfect night, neighbors can add photos and notes to their pins, sharing details like candy offerings (including king-sized bars!).

A new survey of Nextdoor users reveals that Halloween remains a cherished neighborhood occasion. Key findings include:

  • Celebrations are a certainty: 99% of parents on Nextdoor plan to celebrate Halloween in some way this year, with handing out candy (62%) and decorating their homes (48%) being the most popular activities.
  • Spending is on the rise: Neighbors expect to spend an average of $298 on Halloween supplies this year, a notable increase from $277 in 2024.
  • Planning starts early: The spooky season kicks off well before October 31. 84% of neighbors plan to decorate and 76% will shop at least two weeks before Halloween.
  • Neighbors turn to Nextdoor: 52% of neighbors plan to use Nextdoor to find information about local Halloween events and activities.

Figures in this report are drawn from Nextdoor’s platform data and survey of 1,000 Nextdoor users, which fielded from August 12 to August 14, 2025.

“The Treat Map is a perfect example of how Nextdoor helps make every neighborhood feel like home,” said CEO and Co-Founder, Nirav Tolia. “Halloween is a holiday built on local connection, and this year’s insights show that neighbors are more eager than ever to celebrate with their communities.”
